Well I do for example. Just faster to rip an ISO than downloading it. Does that make me an aprils fool joke?

| Badassbab said: One reason I never bothered with Dolphin was because of having to buy a certain DVD drive for rawdump. (LG-8164b or LG-8163b or LG-8162b or LG-8161b). It would be nice to play some Wii games at a higher resolution with AA enabled but I'm not overly fussed, got far too many games to play on Steam as it is. |
if you just own a wii and a copy of the original game tho you can softmod the wii in a manner which allows the wii to read the games onto a usb memory stick which you can then pop into the PC and use with this emulator perfectly with a little more graphical options than you find on your wii system, AA all over the place etc :) Will point out tho that some of the games like Smash brawl is about 7-8gb and it takes the wii the better part of an hour to get every bit off the dvd. Worth it tho for some games, just nice to see some games in 1080p
As for dieappledie, when taiko no tatsujin Wii: Do Don to Nidaime Comes out in europe I'll feel bad for having played it via other means, til then I'm glad I get to see some of japans locked away goodies and not just sit about wishing for them to be localized before I'm dead. I'm sure me having an image of a game which was never in a store within 5000miles of me is still stealing 50euros from Namco tho right?

The is also no working WiiU emu or even signs of one. Dolphine emulating the Wii is nothing to do with it as the WiiU is running on newer hardware with more powerful CPU and GPU then whats in the Wii. Even on very powerfull hardware the is some wii games that give slow down etc when maxed out using dophin. Trust me emulating the WiiU will be no more easier then emulating a 360. As for the PS3 it will be emulated but it wont be an easy task just like with PCSX2 at first or the saturn emus when they first started working on them. The way i see it going 360-->WiiU---> PS3. in the lines of emus coming out. But then saying that i could be wrong and we could see a WiiU emu before we see a 360 one but somehow i think we will be seeing a 360 emu first. Also the original xbox could of been emulated if enough talented people took the time, it was pretty much a PC at the end of the day. I guess all the great emu devs where working on PCSX2 and Dolphin?? xD . |
1. of course by now there is no sign as it is just out. but as i said: if it turns out wiiu uses the same isa and the gpu-research is going good, the emu just has to be adjusted. the main-work is already done.
2. i already said that speed is another thing for emulation.
3. why do i have to trust you? what is your proof of this statement? emulation has nothing to do with performance but with complexity and documentation on hardware. and effort that is needed.
4. ps3 *is* way off as i already said.
5. what you "see" is not important - what is and what can be done is.
6. you can think whatever you want ;) i doubt there will ever be a serious x360-emu.
7. the xbox didn't even need an emulator - it needed a wrapper for api-calls which is not really emulation. whixh was a pita because of documentation so it was not done.

I hope for your sake that you don't enter a quote wall debate about copyright infringement, intellectual property, and the limited licencing rights granted to legitimate recipients of media, because you may find yourself overwhelmed by new and confusing realisations.

I believe france authorises personal copies of even music CDs and films (as in 1 copy can legaly be done)... and if I recall recent news I read I believe the UK is in the way (or discussion) for passing such law. |
You were on the pulse with this one, but it remains to be seen if will prove itself to be a viable decision, and that depends entirely on how its opponents will react in the short term (perhaps employing legal means or turning the tide of popular opinion), rather than collecting statistics. After all, the most vehement arguments against copyright infringement tend to employ hyperbole such as "stealing money out of the mouths of artists" and "causing job losses" and other nebulous things. Anyone with half a brain can see that it is only ever losses which trickle down, and gains trickle up. Unfortunately, my own stance on this could be seen as some sort of liberal commie scumbag shit, rather than good old-fashioned rationality, so I fear that these progressive measures won't last long.

Looks cool. When I get a better PC, I'll definitely play my Wii games this way in 3D, AA and better resolution instead of the 480p Wii.
Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!
My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/
My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

If the game requires the Wii Motion plus I think there is no way to play it, but don't quote me on this.
