Forums - Gaming - MGS Fans, why haven't you picked up Deus Ex Yet?

I don't see the similarities to MGS at all.

The futuristic settings, the first person view, the storytelling.

The only thing they seem to have in common is stealth.

like i said, the attention to detail, the easter eggs , the character developement ...ect ect.

I knew this thread was going to be like this. XD.

I like them both. Both of those series are in my top 3. I like invisible war like mummelman. It's worse than the original or Human Revolution in almost every single way (except that you can pick up everything in Invisible war)

The only metal gear solid game I think is merely "good" is the one everyone seems to be gaga over. And I think the others are great.

i'm trying to whore this game out , not a lot of people know about it here.

Darth was excited about this, I wonder if he got hit by a bus. I always tried to get him to play the first one.

Whoring this game out is good... because then, that means hopefully it will sell more, and we will get more games out like this :).

Well, I hope we get more like the first if we get anymore, because at the end of the day this game was still pretty dumbed down compared to the first, and overall just worse.

I agree with you, I think you know this because I've said that before.
Swimming, ATM's, Multitools, Melee weapons, Incorporating shadows instead of just line of sight, ability to pick more thingsn up to make noise. And probably some others.

I still love this game though, it's my favorite in quite a while. Ideally I'd want them to build off this, incorporating more things from the first one, and other new things (that are good ideas). But, ideally doesn't always happen, but this game turned out a hell of a lot better than I expected when eidos announced they were making a brand new development team for this in 2007.

The original Deus Ex is one of my all time favorite games!

I won't lie this game is pretty beastly. I have gotten through it twice already.

From what I've gathered, it roams a lot nearer to the original than the first sequel. In my humble opinion, Deus Ex: Invisible War not a terrible game, in fact; it was pretty good but the original was just mindblowing and the sequel had no chance to live up to it.

Are the system req's high though? Running on full I mean? Not that the new PC will have much trouble with it...

The system reqs are not THAT bad. The recommended is a 5850, but the mins is like a 8800. I have a gtx480, but on everything maxed out I don't end up using all of it by a long stretch, so I am guessing it really isn't that bad. The game is awesome. Seriously, probably the best game I've played in the last decade with maybe a few exceptions here and there. To prove my poitn further of how much I loved it, not only did I actually pay for the game, and not only was it at a full price, but it was the augmented edition too. I don't think that has happened since... UT2004? maybe Civ 4? I'm not even sure anymore.

Hell my 5770 can run it at pretty much max 1080p @ an average 45fps, 60fps in small areas

Oh yeah this game is totally incredible compared to what I was expecting. I don't think they need multi-tools, but  they should get in a lockpicking game in the next one, to offset the lack of lockpicks. I think part of the problem in this one was that the experience and augmentations were the same in this game, unlike in the other one where experience just upped your skills (and you couldn't max out most of it!). By the end of this game I almost had every augmentation, and that's just.... not good. I was also surprised I couldn't pick up random shit to make noise in this game, like... if they made it work back in 2001 you'd think it would work now too.

If they iterate on this instead of dumbign it down more due to people bitching (I'm split on the boss battles) then we could actually see a game that was even better than the first one eventually. It's a pretty big IF though.

Also, FUCK DLC. I will enjoy not paying a cent for some random DLC that is coming out like a month after release.

Lockpicking doesn't make sense in the future setting, they make the "hack doors" thing in the new game , which makes more sense.

i don't see us using the old fashioned keys 50 years from now/

Did you not see the lock[icks in Deus Ex? They looked like some seriously futuristic shit.
