Forums - Gaming - CS:GO has cross-platform play!

PS3 gamers will also be able to use a keyboard & mouse

...which i believe is one reason why PS3 is allowed in the cross-platform play.

So if PC/Mac gamers think they'll have an edge over PS3 due to KB/M then they might want to think twice.

If only the PS3 controller was a good as the 360 controller... I'd buy this game on PS3 just to shut up PC gamers and their nonsense. Yes, the mouse is better, but the keyboard sucks, and I can still stand my ground against PC gamers using a controller. (I've done it before in CoD on PC)

I'm probably in the top 5% of console FPS players, easily, so I'm sure I could compete with most PC gamers other than the extremely dedicated and competitive players/clans. In fact I constantly complain about auto-aim because it ruins my shots way more often than it helps me. I even have the FPS Freak extenders for my analog sticks plus use the maximum sensitivity and it still barely keeps up with how fast and smoothly I aim. And if MS ever makes an officially supported Mouse + Joystick combo for the Xbox or PC I will be all over that.

I almsot thought you were serious. Then the bolded was said and I laughed.

I am serious :) I tried using it in CS:Source, but since the controller isn't officially supported I was using this controller hack with custom config files and I couldn't find a good one that worked well with that game. Still hold my own with KB + Mouse, don't get me wrong, but it's the keyboard part that always has me fumbling. Never an issue with my aim :)

CoD is a super scrub game. Let me tell you that back in the days scrubs who couldn't handle Quake 3 or UT played CS (sad part is that CS has now somehow become more pro than the rest of the games).

Games evolve. Quake and UT are entirely unrealistic games which allowed you to hold a billion different weapons at a time, move and jump around in unlimited different ways with unrealistic gravity settings, etc. What do you consider a "non-scrub" shooter on PC anymore then?

Seems PC elitists have an excuse for everything lol.

And that is wehre you are confused. If you wanted to play a realistic shooter type thing, you went and played Delta Force, and not CS. Unless you are trying to tell me it's realistic that you can go around with 1 health and win a round in real life.CS was just the game for scrubs who couldn't handle the quickness and the fast pace of Q3 and UT. Games didn't evolve over the last decade, they devolved into the shit scrub games released now with marketing to try to push it off as "realistic" (when they really, really are not) when in reality the games are slow and crappy due to the limitatoins of a controller and the fact that there are more scubrs who would shell out money for a game where they won't be bottomfeeder every round.

It's hilarious listening people talk about "realism" in friken video games. That's how I know someone has hit rock bottom and is trying to scrape whatever is at the bottom there to defend their scrub games.

P.S. I would take being a PC elitist over a Console Scrub any day of the week.

It really is a shame some people can't get out of the past. Oh well, you keep enjoying your unrealistic games of yesteryear.

PS - only scrubs use the word scrub. Such an intellectually primitive word. But you are a self-admited PC Elitist and we all know there is no arguing/convincing that type so I will leave this thread...

How are those realistic SPARTAN Lasers going for you in Halo? Oh wait... How's that regenerating health? Oh wait.... Whatever you are smoking, imbibing, shooting up,etc. I want some of it too because I like the reality you live in.

Edit: Totally missed the postscript. Your logic is also entertaining.

Some of these who you call "noobs" will totally pwn you with controllers.

I just cannot believe that anyone on a controller would have a chance in hell against anyone who is competent with keyboard and mouse. I'll only change my mind if I see it, though I doubt it'll ever happen.

This is great news. I will personally be playing CS on a PC as it would be a shame to play this beauty on my PS3. I think having this cross-platform play will put all these arguments (as greatly presented in this thread) to rest. Console players and PC players get to finally battle it out. Should be good times!

I wonder if you can tell who is playing on a console or on a PC though when they join the server. All I know though is I will be avoiding the casual mode like the god damn plague!

Hopefully they will have a little icon like in Mario Kart's wheel to let you know who is using a controller. Then again the poor guys would probbaly get kicked upon entry in serious servers so that may not be what Valve is going for.

AFAIK matchmaking will solve the problem of having inferior console players on the same server - unless, of course, you are equally bad, in which case you should have nothing to worry about playing with inferior console players =)

Truth be told, the only problem I can see with cross-platform play is console gamers' much less capability to communicate because PS3 players don't have nearly as many headset as 360 players, and I don't think almost anyne is going to use kb+mouse either. Other than that, I don't think I have anything to complain about in the way Valve decided to implement cross-platform play despite my initial fears (aim assist for example).

no xbox? :S

XBL service is handled by Microsoft and microsoft alone, they don't allow third parties to handle it, so they can't have cross platform in there, the service simply can't do it.

UNLESS the game is on the "Games for Windows" service which can be cross platform with Xbox.

@Vlad , seriously guy, it doesn't matter if its Keyboard or Gamepad, if a player is skilled , he is skilled, i'm eager play against you on a controller when this one releases , just to show you what i mean.

Edit: oh and this thread made me want to play CS Source , BRB starting steam.
