I don't think Mario Kart 7 sounds nice at all, but I'd guess it would be officially called Mario Kart 3DS

Which is exactly why Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii were both announced as Mario Kart 5 and Mario Kart 6 beforehand, right?

Note that they really actually NEVER WERE.

Mario Kart 7 is the OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED name. Get used to it, and get over it.

It seems werid seeing how all the other Mario Kart games arn't numbered at all. Why would they suddenly start with 7?  I would rather they just have named it Mario Kart 3ds instead of 7.

Finally, just to close it up once and for all...

Nintendo has made it very clear that they intend to call it Mario Kart 7 everywhere they've used the title. If it was a placeholder name, it would say so. And it makes no sense from any marketing points of view to call it "Mario Kart 3DS".

I would have ignored it merely as a placeholder title, but Nintendo's been saying Mario Kart 7 in the 3DS commercials, and to my knowledge they've never promoted a game under its placeholder name before

Though i would still bet on a placeholder, that bet is less safe than it once was.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Really I was just shocked that there were that many Mario Karts.

Didn't feel like it.

Guess cause of the handhelds.

Surprised they aren't numbered differently like Megaman.

Or rather... semi differently.

Since I think the Megaman gameboy games went

Megaman, Megaman III and Megaman V since each megaman game contained 4 robot bosses from each game and they didn't want people to think gameboy 2 was the same as 2 when none of the robots were the same.

I think it's an awesome name. particularly if mk8 is called not 8.

though to say it's not impossible to change the name. isn't true

the original deus ex 3 changed its named to project snowblind... and sucked.
Final Fantasy Agito XIII, is now FF Type Zero.
Super Mario Bros 2 wasn't even an original game it was a reskin of Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panikku.

So I think it's possible they can change the name... but it seems like it's going to be mk7 :)

It's pretty stupid considering it's not the seventh game in the series.

those are arcade ones... just like final fantasy and dragon quest, don't count their spinoffs as main games.
