List some of your heros.

Anyway, I disagree quite strongly with a lot of Lenin's ideaologies (or at least his implementation of them) but I still consider him to be a hero.

i did

.and that scares me even more.

You listed one. List more of your heroes, don't even have to limit it to those who you disagree with.

You are honestly scared by democratic socialism? I suspect you are infact thinking of Stalin, but it's ok, I would imagine the American history sylabus doesn't differentiate between the two, nor between them and the devil. if you're ever interested in learning something about Lenin, Marx and democratic socialism, then just give me a bell.

This line is just brilliant!

Scottie isn't that off really since the textbook I had during high school demonized both Marx and Lenin as being Stalin clones. Really it's sad to see how badly textbooks which are suppose to show history are tainted with nationalistic tones which twist the truth. Though I guess I'll take their twists over their over use of ignoring anything that will paint the country in any negative light, but I'm just rambling off topic.

But Marx and Lenin lived before Stalin... How can they be clones of him?

Meh. It's no fun if you add people you agree with.

Che Guevara.

I'm not a supporter of his ideology or his reforms, but I respect him as a revolutionary who fought against American imperialism.

that scares me. i could never view a mass murderer (of his own people even) as a hero

Hence why I disagree with him ideologically.

so you view him as a hero

he exploited a cause to just gain power plus hes a communist and a murderer... cant get much worse than that

Gandhi I both respect as a hero, and I support most of his ideology. This thread asks about people we for the most part disagree with, so I didn't mention him.

Wow, I have never heard such a huge amount of BS fit into just one short line. Perhaps you should read up on history, and not from a pro-fascist American book.

The irony of your post is that you bash communism, and then list Gandhi as being perfect..... Even though Gandhi lived in a Commune.

why would i read a pro-facist book. i already told you i hate socialism.

anyway:

1) Che was a communist

2) Che was a murderer

and i never said Gandhi was perfect, read the thread title. "some one you disagree with ideologically but view as a hero". i hate communism, hence why i disagree with Ganghi, but his actions still made him a hero.

and if it makes you feel any better, if all humans were like Gandhi, communism might even work.

Murderer? No. Actually, he was a Doctor, a healer, and later a martyr.
