Forums - Sony - Why aren't Sony exclusives/software selling anywhere close to Xbox360?

SOLIDSNAKE08 said:

one of the main reasons is the diversity and size of the playstation lineup. theres just too many games and options to choose from, we cant get them all. the install base is split between different franchises and thats a good thing really.

A check in the software search here at Vgchartz proves this is purely "myth" about your comment of the PS3 game lineup size .. The 360 lineup has more games.. so 360 hasnt just sold more games.. 360 has more games.. exclusives or not they have more games.. but ive done multiple searches for "Complete list of exclusives" on google.com that show 360 also has more exclusives..

the op is also talking about franchises and there sales. not staples of games.

when you hear about a PS3 exclusive ip in the 7th gen its usually new or well establish.

when you hear about a 360 ip its either Fable, GEARS, FORZA, or HALO. no-one talks about perfectdark or bulletwitch.

This is only because those people have not played very many 360 exclusives. Splinter Cell Conviction, Mass Effect, Too Human, Alan Wake, Lost Odyssey, Dance Central, Blue Dragon, Crackdown, all great exclusives, all new IP's.

The difference is that since this site is largely PS3 favoring, so when non-360 owners talk about 360 games they limit their conversations to the big blockbuster titles. This makes 360 seem to have a very limited library, but it doesn't.

You read people talk about Heavy Rain as much as Alan Wake, but why is Alan Wake never brought up when people talk about 360's exclusive library. People talk about Killzone, but never Splinter Cell Conviction (which I think is a better game). They talk about InFamous, but never Crackdown (which isn't as good, but still fun). I hear so much more about Valkyria Chronicles then I do about Lost Odyssey, which was a more critical game to the market (as in who developed it, what the game represents).

However, people are not reading the OP. The OP is talking about Pre-orders and not sales, and when you have a list of the top 20 pre-ordered games in a region which favors the 360 almost 2:1, then obviously all those high profile games will make the list (sometimes not even...Forza), and all the 360 MP games will be significantly higher then PS3 MP games.

that damn blops popup is really geting on my nerves.

plz tell the other guy that.

i know everythiing(nearly everything) the 360 has to offer. getting off track and not reading the op is a habbit for most posters.

i wouldn't say convictions is better then KZ, but it looks like the op is talking about high profile v high profile or preoders and this thread may have run a little long talking about the total number of exclusives.

its nice to have someone in here that understands the op

That's why Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed still manage to get sales nearly as good as 360 games. You point makes no sense, if exclusives can't do it, no game should.

I'm not sure if this is the main reason, but PS3s got bought by tons of people who intended only to use them as Blu-Ray players. People who buy Xbox 360s intend to use them for games exclusively. It's very possible that there are millions of PS3s sitting next to TV and never play any games because their owners aren't gamers and never buy or pre-order games at all. Like I said I can't say for sure, but it's a possibility.

thats the excuse for all you xbox fanboys, you should be ashame of yourself

Ok, that's it. I've taken a look at your post history and since most of your posts are so pro-Sony I'm just going to assume you are a fanboy and can't help yourself. Go ahead and believe everyone who's not a PS3 fanboy is a troll. I don't care.

Im a Xbox owner, but I feel MOST people bought a PS3 for gaming.. yes,  'some' people might have bought the PS3 as a Bluray player because for awhile it was cheaper then a bluray player, but.... I  this is a VERY small percentage of PS3 owners !  Consider this.. if 99% of owners bought PS3's for gaming as the main usage...and the remaining  1% of all 50 million PS3 owners bought it as a bluray player.. You're still  talking that 1% equals 500,000 worldwide  bought it as a bluray player first .. If you want to say it was 99.5% gamers and only half a percent wanting a bluray player( 0.5% ) then you're still talking 250,000 people..  This is a beleivable at least because alot of  folks used the PS2 as a gaming system as well as the DVD player almost equally as much.. The average DVD player owner worldwide also owned 42 DVD movies.. Its beleivable that 1% or .5% of PS3 owners could be watching bluray more then gaming.. but this WOULD have virtually no effect on Exclusives sales..etc.. Its just as conceivable 1% of Xbox owners watch more DVD's then they play games..

This thread is awesome.

It's really funny. I had a lot of good laughs.

Didn't something come out not that long ago that showed Sony being the publisher with the 5th most games sold and MS not even on the list? I'd say Sony sells more games then MS on the whole. MS just advertises the hell out of the few games they do make (or gives them away, case in point kinect adventures) so those few sell more then Sony's top ones but overall Sony makes and sells more games.

Mainly because Sony's lineup is built on diversity while Microsoft chooses to brainwash people with their marketing.

LOL Yeah keep telling yourself that. Microsoft`s exlusives are just more popular usually. Most Xbox exclusives have a much larger community attached to them. If you enjoy online play you likely are an Xbox gamer.  Gears, Halo & Forza are some big one`s that come to mind but when even games like Fable use online features in unique ways can you really blame users for flocking to them?

loloolol the only popular game xbox got is halo so all u saying is wrong. and really??? last time i checked no one even go on forza

Really now!? LMAO! Halo is just the most obvious. Gears of War, Fable, Forza all have unique online communities. Forza doesn`t have an online community...? Tell that to all of those that build cars in Forza to be bidded/purchased in the Auction House. Shall I also mention the fact that the online community on X360 multiplatform titles is huge compared to that on PS3.

As I said earlier....if you are a big online gamer you likely are an Xbox Gamer. Another reason for this could be because of how many people own an X360 in NA and Europe. I can`t imagine that choosing what platform to buy a game on never crossed your mind simply based on how many of your friends also owned a specific platform. This is more true in NA but I bet it happens almost as often in Europe.

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.
