This is a Very Simple Thread.

I want you to pretend that today is the day this generation has come to a end.

This Means that anything after today cannot be included in your futurechoice

( Example: Versus XIII is not out, so you cant say wIhen versus XIII release thsi gen would of be great)

Your Job is to do one simple thing and it is to Rate this generation.

Grading Scale:

5 Stars - The absolute Greatest Generation Ever! it surpasses anything we have seen before

4 Stars - A Fantastic Generation,  not perfect..definitely some questionable actions by the industry, but fanastic overall

3 Stars - A Meh generation its really no better or Worse than any of the previous gen(s), some industry actions are alarming..but some are pretty good

2 Stars - This generation sucks! industry antics are mostly terrible

1 Star - absoulutely garbage Gen! Cut the strings that bind this gen to life! theses actions are runing the industry!

If you notice in every point scale "actions pop up" thses actions are what we have to deal with everyday, consider these in your final decision

Example:

- To many Sequels

- Japans presence

- Reboots

- Movie games

- DLC

- DRM

- Lack of orginal content

- Stupid industry comments IE  " Guided Xxperienece game"

- A call to end traditinal options (example:single player, consoles)

- long development cycles

- Delays

- closures

ect

"Consider not just what you play but these as well"

finally give 3 pro to carry on.. 3 con to leave behind

Difficult decision, and likely one that can't be objectively resolved.

At the moment, i would say a 4, but we'll have to see where this all leads before we can objectively assess this generation

On one hand its bad. On the other hand its only going to get worse.

I say a 5.

Why? Because it's the only generation where I literally have insufficient time to play all the games I want. And I don't mean just want, I mean really want. I'll likely still be playing current gen games 2-3 years into the next generation.

EDIT: On second thought, I rate this gen a 4 so far. Simply because I have to rate it as of today, but the best is yet to come for this gen.

Just because this gen of consoles was so much better than the last generation

Wii: I have had so much fun playing this at parties!

Xbox 360: Great splitscreen console, offered a wide variety of games from all genres. A huge improvement from the crap that was the Xbox

PS3: ... At least this hardware was more reliable. Sony has been acting more like a dick this gen.

2.5 stars. This generation just hasn't taken off for me yet. The long development cycles, shorter and easier games and too much CG just makes this gen meh.

I said 4...

Pro's
1. NOT Compressed audio. YAY This Irritates me.
2. Lots and lots of great games and more than any other gen imo... but none that are the pinnacle of gaming imo, or truly revolution game that I played. (there were innovative things, but no deus ex, mario 64, or ocarina.

Con's
1.Wagglefests, motion detectors.
2.DLC. IMO make full games and make full expansion packs I will buy them. But I don't want modular crappy experiences DLC typically  gives you . DLC like Gay ony11 is essentially an expansion pack you can download. That's OK. But Mass Effect 2's Good ones Like overlord and the shadow broker. While great and good respectively. Feel detached because not all the voice actors come back.

The PSX/N64 Generation Has 4/5 of my top 5 if you count deus ex.
This is tied for second with last gen for me.
