I changed the text to make it less provocative. I just thought it was a good point - why do we have all these topics if Microsoft/Sony are consistent and confident. They arent from my perspective, but perhaps supporters of MS and Sony feel otherwise about the SKUs.

Yeah I know you edited your original post Game_boy.  My last response was clarifying why I made my original post since thetonestarr thinks i'm a Wii hater which couldn't be further from the truth.

In terms of future SKUs, all Nintendo should do is include an SD card, Wii Play* (and Wii Sports), drop the price to £150. Also new pastal colours and a limited edition Mario Galaxy SKU would go down a treat (different colours £175)

*Maybe creating a third 'Wii' game to bundle with the remotes, like... erm Wii Home (mini games based on things to do around the home) or Wii Dance (multiplayer dance-off game).

See I'm actually pretty confident still, I think one SKU is great, but at the same time I think 2 is even better. I agree that MS and Sony are really pushing the "too many godamn sku's" angle at the moment, but I think 2 is perfect. If I had the choice between the Wii (current), or a Wii with a built in hard drive, standard ethernet connect, and DVD playback for 50 or 100 dollars more? I sure as hell woulden't be picking the cheaper version. I'm a big fan of features and simplicity of a single unit. I will gladly pay a little more for ease of use on my entertainment center.

My apologies. However, I definitely wasn't the first to make an assumption.

That's mainly what I was pointing out, since your reaction there would obviously have caused that assumption.

 Ibelieve that the reason the 20GB failed was because Sony set it up to fail.

It was here solely so that Sony could claim a cheaper entry point but at the time they were persuaded that they could easily sell millions of PS3's at $600 so they didn't want the 20GB to be the best seller as they lost more money on that.

 Fast forward a year and the PS3 performed badly enough that they felt necessary to lose even more money with a $400 SKU so maybe they should have tried to push it more and produce more of them in the first place.

Normal consumers are confused aka mom dad ppl not in the demographic of gaming when they want it for themselves or as a gift. Ppl like us in the market arnt as confused.

Nintendo will probably only go as far as making new colours.

Anyway I seriously did think that some of the consoles made by MS and Sony were superfluous, the 'Halo edition' and the 20GB edition were unnecessary, I also think Sony would have been smarter to drop the 60GB to 399 rather than make a new model.

ps3 40 gb was a good idea t increase sales, since we can sent media to ps3 through pc, and since everyone has a ps2.....
