It can support as many tablets as it likes, it just depends on what kind of images the tablets will receive and TV display.

Depending on the game it can be four, and some of them can be limited to two or only one... just like games now... wow

no it can't

this isn't a stream that you just pass on to the controller.the console has to render  images which will limit it

I'm sure 8 tablets displaying a menu won't tax the console too much.

you are going to pay $100 just to see the menu?

its of no utility

No, I'll be paying 100 euros to see a three polygon model move around my 3D LED TV while midi plays in the background, plus the tablet displays a very useful matrix and a set of three spells that my multi-polygonal wizard can cast. Same for my other 7 peers.

ooooh

too bad, gamibng as quantity based industry as quality so if people don't accept it,u won't have it

Really should've waited until TGS to reveal that thing, they could have lined up straighter answers about all sorts of things

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Nintendo said that they are not selling the tablet separately in the launch period, so the first 3 months.

Maybe because they want to check if the system goes wall, maybe the not want to be massive from the start, maybe they have learned from the 3DS experience...to many maybes.

Hey, do you have a source that specifies it's just in the launch window? I mean, that makes perfect sense, but I'd like to see an actual source because I only remember it being "not selling them separately", period. It'd be awesome if it's just the launch window.

Personally, my theory is twofold - (1) their 3DS launch bit 'em in the butt and they want to play it safer and less cocky this time around, and (2) they want it to be clear that WiiU is a whole new system and that these tablets WILL NOT WORK with a Wii, so wait until the general uneducated public knows what the WiiU is, THEN release the tablet.

THAT hurdle could have been avoided, though, with a different name...

Hooray I guess.

”Let me correct something that is a misconception,” Ryan began. “We said that the Wii U system will come with one Wii U controller, but we haven’t said that you can only use one Wii U controller. The fact is that if the developer makes a game or an experience that uses more than one, then anything is possible.”

vs.

"Both the controller and the console will be sold as one unit. You won't be able to buy the controller alone."

...i'll take "won't" as a more accurate depection of the situation over "anything is possible".

especially if you go to the actual source of the material for which he elaborates...

"I likened it to the Wii Remote, which has a small amount of memory for storing Miis and the like, and he noted it is "similar, but that's kind of basic, what you can do with the Wii Remote. Taking a Mii with you is cool and fun, but this has the possibility to do more... not on the go, but once you get somewhere else where you take your stuff to someone else's environment, it's definitely possible."

As an example, I put forth the possibility of loading up your team and plays in Madden and taking it to a friend's house (who also has a Wii U, of course), and both being able to play from their own controller.

"It's hard for us to commit to anything concrete, but yes, it's a possibility because the controllers are compatible. It's possible to have that kind of experience."

ha, I think they initially planned to be a one-controller only console, but after the backslash they decided otherwise.

updated: 14.01.2012

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

While I don't care about the Wii Tablet, I'm really looking forward for a game like Mario Kart or Wii Sports using 6 Wii Remotes at the same time in a local multiplayer mode.

nice, i will buy a extra one. when that option is available.
