You are correct there is the Hawkings Radiation. Not yet confirmed though maybe CERN will prove it if they are able to watch mini black holes radiating away. The white hole solution is just one of many and I am not a follower of any theory there is no evidence to support any of them. I just picked it because the OP gave it as option.

BTW: Even a black hole radiating away doesnt mean the white hole theory is wrong afaik. Its not really logical but you create two alternative realitys our where the hole radiates away and then the holes reality that created another space time continuum that leads parallel to ours but its basically untouchable because its infinetly in the future and we are infinetly in the past. From our perspective it never really happenes. There are Theorys for that but I am walking on very thin ice here I just understand what they say not why they say it from a certain point on.

I suppose black holes are space vaginas LOL.

Well maybe not, on the other hand all we have are theories and nothing more, nothing less. We won't know for sure unless someone tries going in to investigate.

Yes, but TOOTHED space vaginas! ZOMFG!!!

Sounds dangerous....my middle name is danger..

@sveenoj.

The acceleration is measured by the redshift. We can see, the further away galaxys are the more their light turns red. See Doppler Effect/Redshift

"How can we be sure of that?"

We cant be 100% sure we can be relatively sure. In the distant past we had the same natural laws like today its safe to say those Supernovas couldnt shine more brightly.

Of course recently we saw that on huge scales natural forces (electromagnetism) seem to vary but afaik this doesnt change much in this case.

@sveenoj

I could only be parts of your post because it was hidden by the articles (ps 3 browser) I will answer more thoroughly after reading your whole post.

Light is just a wave (not always) like sound. You know that a cop car with sirenes coming towards you sounds higher after it passes lower. Its because the wavelenghts change because they move look up pictures to get a better impression. The same goes for light if it moves towards you its more blue away from you more red. Andromeda is one of the handful more blue galaxys the rest is increasingly red the further they seem away some galaxys move away faster from us then lightspeed if you ask how can that be dont expect an answer today. The Universe is expanding we can see that on the background radiation which was once light and turned so red that its radio today. And acceleration increases with time we can see it on the light from other galaxys.

Dark Energy is just a theory a good one which is mainstream and makes more sense then the other ones right now. But nothing is set in stone yet.

@Netyaroze

I know about the redshift, at least I think I do. I thought it was different from the Doppler effect as it is the stretching of the universe that causes it. Although I guess it is similar since the stretching is responsible for everything moving apart.

It gets hard to wrap my head around it when light travels for billions of years while the universe is stretching. And light from old faraway galaxies released today might never reach us anymore, since they are moving away faster then the speed of light by now. Those calculations can't be easy.

I need to read up about Hubble's law some more.
