Forums - Website Topics - VGChartz makes NeoGaf look bad!

Content is the king - they have many dedicated posters who publish interesting topics and put tons of work into it. Plus they get more insider leeks than any other forum.

"People favour simplicity I think. In my experience the most successful forums are the simplest ones. VGC is bloated and slow "

"VGC's strength in comparison to other sites has always been the sales and industry discussions. Not anymore."

"Content is more important than features"
"VGC's main advantage (sales data and graphs) has diminished to the point where it isnt a real advantage anymore"

Fully agree with those comments I would have wrote the same thing. Actually I was but then decided not to.

I totally agree with them too.. i became VGChartz member much earlier than joining Neogaf.. but now i barely visit VGChartz and even much less comment here.. I feel the owner of the site has taken a wrong direction..

this site doesnt look like a place of serious discussion from the get go.. you feel you have come to a music or some hip hop site.. i so much loved the VGC 1. it was simple and portrayed the strength of the website. right now VGC is following the Sony policy where they dont know what they want from their device. Is it news more important or sales figures or forums or articles or ads at the end..

and i think in designing their web sites they have lost their focus on forums and numbers also. certainly its true for me. almost every yr they have a new design which i find worse then the previous one, sales data is late.. their forecast are usually a bit biased. and forums are quite a bit slow now..

Anyway this is my reason for leaving  this site. on neogaf its simple, good moderation.. u wont find 10 threads on one news item. they organize it n manage it a lot better than here in my view. and lot of people bring some new info, news or have a good opinion..

Anyway i voiced my concerns once a long time ago when the moderator asked for the views on new design..

VGChartz has a much more strict moderation policy than sites like gaf.

How do you figure? Between the ~6 month waiting period for account approval and people getting permbanned left and right (especially juniors), NeoGAF seems far stricter.

I was kind of trying to be polite to Gaf.

If your opinions are the same as the mods, you can troll all you want and not get banned. If you like things that the mods don't you will obviously get a permaban on Gaf. That's why people go there, they don't have to put up with all the dissenting opinions that they would find on sites like this one.

What is the point of a forum w/o dissent?

Okay, I agree with that!

I've edited the thread title. Really, no need to use emotive terms like that, it will just start a flame war.

Thanks Machina on second thought the thread title was alittle harsh, however I did not think it would start a flame war as it was posted here on VGChartz and the fact that both NeoGaf and VGChartz are competitors I really didn't think it would be an issue.

This just proves my point. On Gaf if you start a thread criticising VGChartz, you could get away with saying anything. On VGChartz, you have to be fairly polite and avoid flaming. It makes VGChartz a nicer place to come to, but not a more popular place unfortunately.

I just hear rumors from neogaf alot.

Lol, exactly.  That's why I enjoy coming to VGC.  The sales and the community.  No point in going to forums where everyone shares the exact same opinion.  Discussion and debate are always engaging in my opinion.

Neogaf has one forum feature which is lacking here. They have people worth reading.

Tease.
