Forums - Website Topics - VGChartz makes NeoGaf look bad!

I shall make no attempt to find a recent example, I was commenting just from my experience, which is not particularly recent. Anyway, good to hear they may have gotten their act together.

From what I saw on their forums/comments it seems that NeoGaf is largely populated by Microsoft/Sony fanboys.  I am sure I would last about 1 day if I ever joined the site.  I would never join the site because I'd rather not be looked down on based on the video game company I prefer to support.  Just reading their comments/posts makes me never want to join their site.  Like makingmusic476 said maybe it is all just joke jabs at the company but I highly doubt that.  I am sure most of their user base looks down on Nintendo.

I'm not very familiar with Neogaf but every time I check their gaming forum I find more interesting threads to read at one glance than on VGC in a month. Also: They actually have more than 3 people who are or were PC gamers.

VGC's strength in comparison to other sites has always been the sales and industry discussions. Not anymore. The only sales discussion we have these days are EU or NA or WW Up where many posts cheer for a random game on a Sony console that sold more than 5000 copies last week.

Yeah, that's why i mostly stay in off topic.

I remember when the kind of silly fanboy opinions that ruin sales threads and industry posts were the minority, and a lot of people actually were curious about the truth of things through actual empiracle analysis.

that surely has changed as of late hasn't it, or is this the calm before the storm?

Don't know, lately haven't been visiting the sales threads that much out of annoyance of past times, doesn't help the charts are on a whole nother much more bloated page and the loss of the fun charts for stuff like from launch, adjusted etc.

i go to them alot now and they seem none hostile but you have to remember the worse time to enter sales threads is between Oct and Feb as those are the biggest times for sales.

mainly through the first wk or 2 of Jan. after that its alittle nit picking.

the thing thats going to bring out the trolls(or our future permaband members) is Uncharted and GEARS. i forget when the 2release but those are going to be the big hot button topics this fall.

if Sony does better then it normaly does in Oct. then we'll really see some fire-works

i just thought about the worse part for this fall season and thats the Wii factor! no matter wht Wii does this fall i expect its going to cause problems.

That's the problem though really, all the intersting stuff to talk about is what draws the trolling.

Projections are no fun, since they're all fairly apparent with interesting trends only being able to be aknowledged and figured out after they happen.

i here ya kasz, but the new mod rules snould keep the trolls inline and make them debate instead of wht we're use to.

kasz join me this fall season and lets see wht happens. it should be interresting wouldn't you agree?

Neogaf is way better for off topic, but is pretty boring for talking about gaming. I feel all the negativity about this site is only going to push more people away.

Thank you for that explaination! I think the rewards thing is hurting post here as well, since it seems some people are just pushing for points or something. Not that that is bad, but still......☺

Yah I would agree but have to disagree.

It seems that I have fewer posts then most users on VGChartz, yet I still am one of the higher ranking members points wise. I think if VGChartz emphasised that you can get mega points by regestering games, giving ranks and reviewing you could get alot of good input from users. Though I find it annoying when a user who joined in 2009/10 has double the amount of posts I do. Honestly I post alot for a user to have double my posts in that short a time, dang!

BTW, thanks for the tip. Their forum seems old but the discussions are so much better than here. I've been moving to Neogaf thanks for your post.

Just came to thank you for that.

kill him before he becomes a complete neogaf loonie!

for the most part NeoGaf is a bit more mature and I have to say all the extra images, advertisements, etc. on VGC really takes away from the forums. Yet on NeoGaf it you get banned it is all over. I was banned and I still dont know why. I dont try to fan flames, etc.  Yet still I was banned and could never get an explanation as to why and when it would be over.  Then through in that you cant use a Live, Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc. email account means it can be difficult to even sign up.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
