This is true. Lord of the Rings and Toy Story are the only exceptions that come to mind.

Yep, I was thinking of those exact two trilogies along with the first Star Wars trilogy.

Return of the Jedi was mediocre, so it was definately not a trilogy where the quality was consistent (like LotR and Toy Story). The original Star Wars trilogy was just like The Godfather trilogy: the first 2 movies were great, and the 3rd was a major letdown.

I am sure that he will make this movie great! The first one was really good, the second one we all know about, and everyone has hopefully learned from the past with "Spiderman 3" as an example. Although I more or less enjoyed Spider 3, it was just too much of the same formula. Parker goes through a change (smarter- evil), then he gets back to where he is supposed to be. Anyways no matter what I am seeing the next one even if batman is wearing a dress.

The main problem with Spider-Man 3 was the musical number.

REally? I thought Return of the jedi was the best out of the three. The ewoks were a little much, but at some times I enjoyed them  as well.

I found it to be extremely disappointing, to be honest.

Could you give me a few things that you didn't like and what you did like so I can understand why you don't like it? What about the whole first part with the escape from Jaba? The speeders in the forest? The last battle with vader and the emporer?

I saw the movie a LOOONG time ago, so I don't remember it that well. I just remember the feelings I had. I think it just seemd overall to cartoonish, and a disappointing end. I remember the opening being ridiculous though, and quite creepy. Like some weird geek sexual fetish.

What do I care about critical reception or sales? I saw all three movies and the second was disgustingly bad, with horrible added scenes that were ridiculously B-movie like.
