Forums - Gaming - Would anyone have thought Wii would....

Yeah I agree about a price drop for the 360!
It will happen between February and April with the launch of a new SKU according to me.

Pfff it's just crazy what the Nintendo does I am really astonished by the success of the Wii.

For me the PS3 did well but it could do more I think we will see this year if Sony sold PS3 to Blue ray users or to gamers. I think the PS3 will win in Europe because it has a good brandname and it has a solid line-up for the next year.

Funny how you guys think the 360 is going to get crushed into the wind like its the dreamcast, microsoft wont sit by litting themselves die like sega did. X360 will soon gain market share.

And PS3 will lose marketshare then, Wii on the other hand is going to gain, its outselling both combined

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Microsoft will not make a profit this year, they willl drop the 360's price to $179.99

i have a feeling that it will be a tie between wii and ps3 in "others" with wii edging it out more by a couple hundred thousand or a couple millions.

@daactualfact

I think it will be a tie between the Wii and PS3 in 'others' with the Wii maybe being a couple of million ahead.

Does that sound a little strange? :P

I suspect he means sales per week being a close race, but the Wii still pulling in more overall sales thanks to 2007 (and late 2006) sales. Which is entirely possible.

Trust me when ps3 is $299.99 thats when you will see sony dominating.

First, when PS3 will be 299.99, Wii will be 199.99, and will have sold 20 to 30 or 40 millions more than PS3: Sony will never dominate this generation, they will attract their core audience, just as Nintendo did last gen with the Gamecube...

Second, no, i don't trust you, you're one of the most stupid and arrogant fanboy on this site... you seem to have something to write on EVERY thread created here, and each time, you're totally wrong, ridiculous, and uninteresting...

I don't post often down here, cos' i'm sick and tired of stupid kids like you: why don't you just PLAY instead of trying to talk about video games? Believe me, with you and your "arguments", Sony's cause seems even more lost than it actually is... so just leave Sony alone... and Nintendo and Microsoft as well, btw...

"A beautiful drawing in 480i will stay beautiful forever...

and an ugly drawing in 1080p will stay ugly forever..."

I actually predicted most of it not the exact numbers, I was a little low on the Wii and a little high on the PS3. I actually expect by the end of this gen to be dominated by Nintendo and Sony not for Microsofts lack of trying but simply because the 360 seems to do really well in America and not so much anywhere else.

Yeah PS3 can drop to 299.99 if Sony doesn't want any return into the multibillion dollar investments sure. The problem is if they drop the second they can they will delay any return. Nintendo on the other hand could probably drop the cost up to almost 100$ immediately. A price war as it were could not work in Sony or Microsofts favor as Nintendo has a lot more room to do it comfortably.

At launch I've heard it said that Nintendo wholesales Wiis for 195.99 earning around 45$ per system thus retail markup it around 54$ that's 99$ over cost per purchase at launch to which I'm sure they're slightly cheaper to make today as producing more generally cheapens the cost of putting each individual together.
