The Americans joined the conflict in the 60's which is when the subject became important in Aerican society. Vietnam was irrelevant to US in 50's, bet most of them didnt even knew what vietnam was.

No, your mixing stuff up again. When French celebrate, they celebrate the history of French country and thus its a celebration for ALL ITS citizens regardless of race. But in America you can see a lot of ''blacks only'' organisations and stuff like that. Like ''Blacks hisotry month'' , Million men march, and tons of other black privilages and traditional organisations in US.

What do black people have to do with French history and culture? What role do they play (other than being former colonised populations)? They can participate (just like whites in the US can participate at an event organzied by blacks), but they're not represented (there are no black personalities in French culture, no metions of any contributions blacks hadin French history etc.).

They are citizens of France and as such can participate in celebrating its history. You dont think blacks celebrate 4th of July in US. You see the difference is whites usually celebrate the history of thier country and its traditions while black minorites usually celebrate smething related to their skin colour.One celebrates the nationality, the other its ethnic group. And how many whites do you see in this  program organiszed by blacks

In the 1st all, all citizens can participate in (which is the mode you see in all western countries) and in the later, only the people of specific skin colour can.

Hey, whose fault is it that whites can't even be a proper minority? In South Africa whites are populations that colonised the country and subjugated the natives for centuries. And whites in South Africa do actually have their own culture, and even their own language. There really is no cultural unity there.

And whats a propper minority to you(proper is such an offensive and wrong word to use btw)? Not being white. The thing is, whites are minority in the country, and following your logic, they should be able to organize thier pride events and as such.

I don't know much of the ethnic minorities in China, other than the fact that they recieve benefits like minorities recieve in most other countries (they're not even subjugated to the one child policy). I don't know enoguh about non-Western society/culture to be able to talk about China.

Than there shouldnt be no such thing as black culture either ( i am still under the impression we are talking about US only, right?) If blacks of America can have thier cultures celebrations and pride parades than so should whites of America, and yes we are talking about the single nationality here.

Ideally, there would be no such thing as 'black culture'. Ideally, black people wouldn't have been bought as slaves from Africa, and wouldn't have had their cultural identities erased by white colonialists. Black culture is a thing that onyl exists in the US, and I already mentioned why it exists (and why every normal US celebration is a 'white pride' event).

World isnt ideal, and idealists are very delusional people, even more so than sicentologists. And every US celebrattion is exactly that - a United States celebration, not a celebration of white race and its culture, there is no such thing as white culture.

Well the only kind of proof I have is ancedotal one. Thou I am sure there are some pols done on the net, im just not feeling like findind anything at the moment. I've seen white youth all over germany, austria, slovakia and france and their primary choice of music is always rap, and like Kazs said, this is well known in America as well. Maybe its different in Eastern europe, in Romania, where you live. In my home contry, things are much different either, only folk songs are still the most popular ones here

Kasz was talking more about rap music beign popular amongst white suburban teens. I'm not sure if it's the same outside the US. Over here gypsy music (called 'manele') is the most popular music genre.

I don';t hate Somalia, but I'm sure that a country devastated by civil war and famine can be called 'hell on earth'. And pride and nationalty have been the driving force in most conflicts (wealth and greed might be the hidden motives of leaders for driving such clonflicts, but pride and nationality is enough for the overwhelming majority of people to start killing).

I tought you hated Romania the most, seeing as how you are from there. Nationality? Sure. Pride?? Hell no. No one attacks other country or people because they are proud of their own, but people will defend their own country when attacked and the only way to defnd the country is by war and war mens killing people.

I kinda forgot what we were talking about (it's been a while), so I'll just focus on the rap part.

I think most rappers, while not gangsters, were from rough neighborhoods, and grew up and lower class families. Rap isn't really about being a 'gangster' as it is about poor people, their issues, thei desires to better their lives etc.

Yeah well, I'm not that knowlodgeable on the subject, but what kind of rap sells the most? Who are the more popular ones? How are they seen by he "hardcore" rappers?
