Though I hardly ever agree with his reviews. I love how you all flame on him for having an: OPINION.

There comes a point where opinion is wrong, this is the difference between a bad and a good reviewer, being able to put aside your personal likes and dislikes and judging a game on what it is.

I never heard of this guy and it seems my life is better off that way.

Signature goes here!

I think he's just mad nobody is giving him MS points and he has to spend his hard earnt money on the games instead on a Happy Meal...

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

ugh, this guy is a blight on gaming journalism. I have no clue how he got a show on the Escapist. My biggest problem with him is how many times he's been exposed as a mouth-breathing, misogynistic pig who makes light of things like rape and domestic abuse and then tries to say "oh, stop being so PC guys, it's just a joke". He's a truly vile human being who needs to have his cake taken away

That "opinion" argument is so overused. There is a line between opinion and bullshit.

Anyway, Jim Sterling just goes against the grain because it gets Destructoid more hits.

He's fucking hilarious :) Who cares about dumb reviews?

Agreed. As a professional reviewer his opinions should be informed and balanced against personal taste.  To score really low a game has to be broken, buggy and so on.  If the game works well but is mediocre that's your 5 out of 10, a decent game should be 7 out of 10 - i.e. a good example of the genre without any major flaws.

It's worth remembering though, that as in all things, not everyone is equally good at their job no matter what it is.  There are good critics, great critics and medicore critics.  Sterling just seems to be aiming for controversy for the sake of it most of the time.  Pity as on occasion, when he actually performs professionally, he does an okay job.

I wish people would realize the difference between uninformed opinions (which we all have but which, to be blunt, normally mean jack squat on any specific topic) and informed opinions.  If a professional reviewer is just delivering opinions and not informed opinions then they're not fufilling the job spec.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

All professional reviewers are bad, either they just give their own biased opinion instead of trying to be objective (which I'd rather get from just another player) or they just give it what people expect based on hype

Eurogamer and Edge give disproportionately high scores to anything that's original so I wouldn't hang your hat on their scores for this game. They seem much more likely to ignore issues if a game is cool and new (more so than other review sources). While 5.5 is too low there do seem to be control/camera issues and I can see where he might get bored with the mechanic. Sterling does come off as a contrarian quite a lot, and he overly punishes games in the score for the issues they have, but I don't think he does it just for hits as many claim. Now his on-screen/written persona I hear is totally done for hits and he's a real nice guy if you meet him, but I don't think he makes up things, or is harsh on reviews just for the sake of hits.

...

I heard it's pretty good. Once the price goes down I might get it from XBLA
