Oh yeah, really complex. Fight once, twice tops, jot down the pattern and apply paradigms. Clearly a varied battle system, that.

...and usually you will get off with 5 stars right off the bat.

@ Selnor: I'm glad you agree with most of it, but the graphics, IMO, were extremely well done. Frankly, outside of music, that's the only thing SE put effort in... everything else is on a kindergarten level.

NOOOOOO! Not you too Xen =(

It's like FFX, except it has more choices. You can decide whether you want to further develop your skills in medic, commando, etc role. In FFX, all you did was follow a linear path in the sphere grid. It isn't until near the end of the game where you could set up your characters, but it's too late by then. There are harder enemies where you have change up your paradigms. I liked the HP refill; it saves me time from doing it myself.

I also like the no towns. Screw all the townspeople that play no role in the story and will never be seen again. I don't care about your daughter getting married or your husband's job. FFXIII eliminated the filler.

You could jump grids and get specific spells from another one far before the end of the game, and you could customize your weapon and armor customizing them that way, FFXIII you just choose which linear grid to follow, and ultimately if you don't pick certain ones for certain characters it's just a waste and FFX had some exploration,FFXIII you are basically running down glorified hallways the whole time and alot of people critisied FFX for the direction it went, and FFXIII is far worse then FFX

That is if you have specific spheres, which are hard to find. You could get by playing blitzball, but sadly, it's one of the worst mini-games ever created. Turn based sports game is a horrible idea, and the controls are awful if you try to manually move the character.

Didn't know about the customization in FFX, but I got around just fine not customizing my armor or weapons. I know if FFXIII you get certain support statuses with different weapons and armor including creating a physical wall defense. I agree about the exploration; it's one of the things that bothered me in XIII. It could have used more open settings. X's exploration wasn't that good, imo, but at least it had some exploration.

I agree with all the criticism FFX got. It's one of the low points of the series.

I hope you'll never read my rant then, haha.

Everybody knows how badly I wanted this game, but I blame SE.

@Mirson: Off to bed! Reply tomorrow.

Liked it more than, I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VIII, IX, X-2, XII, but less then VII and X. Pretty good rating from my part. Would have enjoyed more combat and leveling diversity as well as better made side quest. Other then that it is mile ahead of most jRPG. The funny thing with the hate surrounding FFXIII is that many of the complaints apply to all jRPGs, so why does those persons choosed to play FFXIII to being with? Or claiming how FFXIII suck and in the same sentence wishing for the next lost odyssey, doesnt make much sense.

Bitzball was great, the only screw up they did was not making the prizes good enough, some of the items you get as a prize take 99 to put in an itme and you only get 1... and if you set the movement to manual put it on the map not the camera and finding all the spheres is hard but you run into more then a few of them fairly early, frienship and return spheres are both common, so you can jump to another one get some skills/spells and jump back fairly easy

Im surprised no one brought up dev time. You have a game in development for that long and it turning out to be "ok" is unacceptable. Birth By Sleep was in dev. since b4 KH2 even hit the states, long freaking time. And what we got was a game that was on par, if not better than its console counterparts. FF13 isnt even in the top 5 FF games for me, hell Dissidia, Crisis Core are better games, 11 was a better game and i dont even like MMOs. Id rather watch Advent Children hell id rather watch Spirits Within 10 times in a row

No point in adding that to the list of negatives, thats their problem, not ours. The game was the same price.

I've covered this in so many threads already. I'll just sum up with "My biggest dissappointment of the gen". The game was horrible and plagued with poor design decisions. You can see the effort they put into the game and it was obviously high budget, but they completely forgot about the fundamentals of being an RPG or even being a video game to be honest.

True, but the longer it was in dev, the more people got excited. For me i was thinking "if its taking that long to make it must be gold" But it was only Bronze

Also to continue rant.

How the hell are the graphics amazin?

CGI was great yes. But gameplay was ok. Not even in the top 30 this gen. Character models were clunky, Environments stale and lifeless and to be frank, Extremely disappointing. Not much better ingame than say Two Worlds or Resonance Of Fate.

SE I wil burn you down. What a shame Hironobu Sakaguchis series has been destroyed like this. It must be hard for him to witness this.

It is an exceptionally beautiful game, and I can't help but tell you that you obviously played the inferior version.

Some chaptes scream visual perfection.

Rally? Really?

I thought it was sparse and ok. Nothing special in m eyes. nd miles from other games in my collection.
