I got a 1000 watt surround sound system with a DVD player with 1080 upscaling, DivX support, USB support, IPod Support, HDMI, etc, etc etc for under 300 dollars. Any one who pays more than 300 bucks for a DVD player alone is being had.

Good grief! I hate to break it to you buddy but, Sony is the small fry this generation. They're the smallest and weakest of the three companies. Nintendo is bigger than they are now and more powerful. Nintendo is in the top five largest companies in Japan (#2 now I believe) which puts it far above Sony. Nintendo is also the only company making any financial gain off of video games so I would assume they probably have the better business sense too.

You also jade your own credibility in asserting Silent Hill or Final Fantasy are anymore real games than what are on the Wii. Both are franchizes in severe decline of quality, this just illustrates how lapsed (or perhaps naive) a gamer you are to think those are in anyway icons of quality gaming anymore. Metal Gear Solid might still have some punch, but if its anything like MGS2 (since its taking the series further in that direction), well you have my condolences. In the end you just reached for the biggest names you could think of on your console of choice and arbitraraly labeled them true gaming to fit your argument.

And where did I ever suggest DVD was superior to HD? Could you at least do us a favor and read the thread before jumping in to make your ignorant contribution? And even then, better or not, there's barely any demand for HD in comparison to DVD, especially when taking into context the parallels of which we were using them to illustrate the differences between the PS2 and PS3.

I have played Games since the days of the days of TRS-80. I have owned an Atari, NES, SMS, SNES, Genesis, TG-16 Duo(CD-ROM combo), Playstation, N64. I was a game tester during the early PS2 era.

 To me you sound like a kid. the games you have mentioned are all third party with Metal gear and Final fantasy(teh best one being on the SNES FFIII/VI) appearing on Nintendo consoles before Sega(Metal gear was originally on the MSX) and have absolutely nothing to do with Sony.

You say you know how Sony works well I will say you don't. As for graphics all the games you mentioned were made on the system with the least powerful graphics card and the weakest machine of there era.

Right now Sony is riding on the massive presence of the PS2 and the extended development times for games. In fact it may be more of blessings because as they drop the price even with a slow first year(the PS3 was supposed to wipe the floor again) games will still come out.

What you are going to see by the course of the next two years is very few exclusives for either Sony or MS and an extremely diverse library for the Wii. One that would cater to just aboutany gamer except fanboys.

Anyone who buys a 1000 watt stereo for under 300 bucks and really thinks its 1000 watts was seen coming from miles away. These "cheap" up-conversion DVD players are junk. They dont up-convert well at all. Stack that next to a DVDO upconversion unit and the difference will be very apparent. Those 300+ DVD players generally have very good scalers in them, and that is what you are paying for. The HD-DVD players have horrible scalers in them as well. DVDs look much better using a good up-conversion DVD player only.

As for the 1000 Watt amp.......It may be 1000 Watts Total power at Peak, but what most manufacturers do is combine the total output for each channel at PEAK. So 1000 Watts should equate to 142 watts per channel on a 7.1 channel amp. Since thats PEAK, the true power, or RMS power would be 100 Watts per channel.  So yes in theory your amp is 1000 Watts, but it will only drive a 100 WATT speaker per channel. Generally the distortion rate on those 300$ amps is pretty bad as well. Generally .08% and higher. The really crappy ones are 1% THD and more. If you got one of those Units that are a Up-conversion DVD player AMP and speakers All in-one, than its even worse.

Perhaps things have changed since I worked in home electronics, but the cheaper "all-in-one" systems were nothing special. Generally they have fairly low quality components and most of the lower end ones i've heard/seen (under $400) are simply not worth the money. What is the RMS rating per channel?

Its a 5.1 system (I have no need for a 7.1 system as I have a small living room in my apartment,) with a total RMS rating of 1000W.

Satellite speakers (6 ohm) each have a 125W RMS rating with the central and subwoofers (3 ohm) each have a 250W RMS rating.

Is this BS something you believe as you have played these games or it's verbal diarrhea that you sprout from other people who don't play them. Yes Silent Hill 4 and FF12 not the greatest in the franchise, but still good none the less. Their quality is not declining. It's like saying All Marios are shit after M64, and yet SMG is out now it's all good as a franchise. The thing is franchises have to explore other areas and sometimes they don't hit the mark as they did previously.

You also put down MGS2 for it's direction. Not welcome by most, but those who could see the creative direction loved it. most were not happy with mgs3 either? did you know that? I take each game as it's own. I don't follow what people like. I actually like the games because I actually play them. So You didn't like MGS2 Why? because of Raiden? Because the game was like 2 stories? I think it adds to the story. MGS is not only about Snake!!! It's more than that.

Well there are also other games they make the ps experience. Try GOW 1 and 2, ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, REz Evil which you can try on Wii. I truly recommend a marvelous game called Shadow memories from Konami where you have to prevent your death and find the killer.

I find it hard to believe that you play games at the elite level, as your name suggest. I think you're good at reading and implementing the ideas of others. I'll be amazed if you have played any of the franchises that are on a serve decline. Please feel free to share your experience of those games?

This is quite possibly the most childish post I've seen on these forums.  And that's really saying something.

I agree with redspear -- you sound like a kid, and despite your claims to the contrary, you sound like someone who grew up on the PS1 and thinks that Sony is all there is to gaming.  "If we are wrong we are wrong, but we still support Sony?"  I think you've just written the definition of a fanboy.

The closest you come to saying something reasonable is in paragraph three.  Nintendo does not cater to your needs as a gamer.  That's fine.  Where you go completely wrong is in assuming that the games you like are the "real games" or the "big boy games" as you call them.  I hate to break it to you, but just because your voice has started cracking and you've gotten 3 or 4 hairs on your chest, that doesn't mean you're suddenly granted divine rights to define what is and is not real gaming.  I bet it makes you feel like a real hotshot to put down a girl who enjoys playing with her Wii, but doing so makes you the immature one.

Grow up, and figure out that you are not better than everyone who disagrees with you.  Then maybe you'll stop giving the "real" Sony fans a bad name.

Thanks Entroper and Redspear.. You got me :( How sad am I to enjoy one console and despise the other. The fact is GGE claims by her Name Tag that she is Elite Girl player. Elite Girl players are playing the so called "Big Boy games" like the ones I have stated, or even Gears, H3 and other games that usually appeal to hardcore gamers. You look at any elite player that plays or even gets paid professionally - they are playing games that require skill, requires ability and they are not on the Wii.

As for my Sony devotion. I'm talking about fans who are fans because of the games and the console. So many people on this site, enjoy the Wii because either it's winning, everyone likes it or they are new to consoles.


Now if Sony loses, I'm staying Sony and I think more Sony fans here would still prefer Sony. Where as I have a hard time thinking people will remain a Nintendo fan if they lose.

This site is the only site that people argue about the Wii. Other sites, the Wii doesn't even get a mention. It's 360 vs PS3. Why does this site have alot of Wii fans... because the Wii is winning. It's like the Wii is the greatest piece of hardware out. Sif!!!
