Rumors of MHP3rd is to be released for a PS3 HD port so maybe thats why its taking Sony awhile to release it for PSP.  But yes i would like that game to come out sometime in the near future.

I guess that would make more sense given that the PSP's software sales are really weak in the west compared to the PS3. Plus the PS3 version is HD+3D so I would actually prefer it. =3

I wouldn't be optimized for vita, though the quote in question makes it seem like monster hunter might be on 3ds down the road but that the one currently being made will be for vita.

I would like Sony to beat Nintendo in the handheld market as I enjoy their games and the way they do things much more than Nintendo.  Their success would most likely enable me to see more of what I like, as opposed to their failure.  Therefore, I am disappointed that 3DS would also get Monster Hunter because this nullifies a major advantage Vita would have had.

Well, if the games across 3DS and Vita are without any major differences, i'm curious as to which one would do better. I would think that the Vita version would sell more due to the fact the MH fanbase could play the old MH games on their system. Despite having Unite, I still played MHF2 with friends who did not have Unite.

Vita isn't backward compatible. Capcom and Sony are planning a version of MHP:3rd for the Vita but the rest of the catalogue isn't backwards compatible, unless you can repurchase them through PSN. 

Still, if Monster Hunter does go on the 3DS, it would be major loss for Sony in Japan.

It was my understanding that any PSP game that you've downloaded off of PSN would run normally on Vita. Is that wrong?

3DS Monster Hunter leads to more 3DS sales , more 3DS sales lead to more jRPG games for 3DS, more jrpg games on 3DS lead to less games we will be able to play in Europe due to region locking , not being able to play good games because they weren't released in EU leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to the dark side ;)

Capcom's support shouldn't come as a surprise, they've had their handheld MT Framework engine running on 3DS, so they'll probably use the same one on PSV as well, giving rise to many multiplatform handheld games from them, with the odd exclusive for either one thrown in...
