Vita isn't backward compatible. Capcom and Sony are planning a version of MHP:3rd for the Vita but the rest of the catalogue isn't backwards compatible, unless you can repurchase them through PSN. 

Still, if Monster Hunter does go on the 3DS, it would be major loss for Sony in Japan.
