Pretty hard to choose between psx/n64 and ps2/gamecube.

I choose ps2/n64. Just because I love surround sound.

The PS2 rule was just to great, and the GC and Xbox were not half that bad either. I would have said PS era if the Saturn didnt suck so badly. But this has been the worst gen IMO, its the only time i truly felt that i really needed more than one console. THe WIi is too far behind in hardware power to get much core support from 3rd parties, Sony was arrogant with the PS3 and MS in either there greed or fear decided to release a console to a market without properly making sure the damn things wont heat up. At least there was PSP/DS

Gamecube owns Wii and N64, with the underrated Mario Kart: Double Dash, IMO, the best one, the best Paper Mario, the Pikmin franchise, the HIGHLY underrated Luigi's Mansion, better than any 3D Mario, the underrated Mario Sunshine, Sonic Heroes, the best Sonic game, the last fun Mario Party, 6, and the so fun and only good Spongebob game.

PS2 had ICO and SOTC. Enough to see 6th gen wins.

Probably this gen because while there has been online gaming on consoles since the Dreamcast, it seemed to really take off this gen and become a key selling feature of consoles. I've had a ton of fun playing online this gen.

This gen has great online games like Halo 3, CoD4, Resistance, Killzone, etc. and also great single player games like Uncharted, Fallout, Oblivion, etc.

Tough choice :) Its hard not to pick the current gen...well simply because we in it and im busy playing infamous 2 :D

But in retrospect the previous 2 generations were better, im not sure if its because i enjoyed gaming more when i was younger or what. Most here seem to agree with this.

The funny thing is i wasnt a very clued up gamer when i was playing on my ps1...id play just about anything and have a great time. I didnt play at least half of the classics that the generation is known for. I didnt buy that many games either and mostly hired. However it was the ps1 that ultimately got me really hooked into gaming so thats my choice.

Its kinda sad to think how this generation has gone...i remember when they first revealed the ps3 and hearing all the rumors thinking how great it was gona be to play games with such graphics, who knew they would forsake gameplay for graphics, and that games on the ps1 and ps2 were more fun than current games in general.

Again my opinion is bias....my enjoyment from games has gone down. And it takes a lot more than what it use to to get me excited.

I voted this generation because I feel there is stronger competition, and as a result were seeing better games.

However had the SNES/Gen/Turbografix gen been included, I'd have voted for that.

Last gen, PS2 saw extreme superiority in terms of sales. Nintendo's Gamecube was almost completly deprived of any third party games. Yes Nintendo did produce some of the best games they have ever made (Metroid, Pikmin, Smash Bros, Eternal Darkness, etc), but they also produced a lot of garbage and tarnished a lot of franchises (Mario Party, Super Mario, Zelda, Starfox, Mario Kart, etc). Microsoft was new to the game, and produced a limited number of great exclusives, and really killed Rare. So as a result of all this, you made any game for the PS2 and it would sell, and I don't feel there were too many standout titles. That is why they place third for me.

The N64/PS1 generation saw a lot of change, some of it really damn good. We also saw the best games some franchises will ever have. Zelda, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Mario Kart, Tekken, Starfox, Panzer Dragoon, etc. This generation saw a lot of franchises make successful 3D debuts. Nintendo also made same great spinoffs with Rare and Camalot, Mario Party will never be the same, ad I don't think we will see as many new IP's from them without Rare. This is why they are second.

However this gen, man competition is not only driving game sales, but quality and number too. There are more high quality games this generation then any prior, and not 1 system hogs them all. There is Metroid, Smash Bros, Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong, XenoBlade, etc on Wii. Gears, Halo, Lost Odyssey, Forza, Alan Wake, and Mass Effect on 360. Killzone, Valkeria Chronicles, GT, LittleBigPlanet, and InFamous on PS3, and finally some really high quality multiplatform games like Dead Space, Portal, Crysis, Fallout, Assassin's Creed, and yes even Call of Duty.

The only issue this gen is that I feel it is somewhat more repetitive then prior generations. N64 and Gamecube only saw 1 mainstream Mario title, Wii has 3. There were only 2 Halo's on XB, but 360 already has 4 and 2 more comming, and a lot pf Sony's franchises are seeing 3 or more games this gen, when PS2 and PS1 often only had 1 or two games per series. Not only that, but how some games are now getting annual installments, like CoD and Assassin's Creed.

Still, there is enough new to overlook this, and if you get really attached to one franchise, at least this gen you won't be limited by 1 game.

My favourite is the 4th gen, from the list however it is easily the 5th. I didn't and don't really like the 6th gen, but this gen has been pretty good.

Why not include every gen while you're at it?

But out of these three, the sixth generation, by such a long margin it's almost sad.
