They should sue them for lack of tolerance and unequal treatment.

They already have, and they lost due to precedence. Since courts ruled that the Boy Scouts can exclude gays, obviously gays have the right to exclude heterosexuals from their organisations. It's only fair after all.

Can't we all just get along and have fun together.

Ah, in an ideal world oldschoolfool, in an ideal world. But if it's a fight they want it's a fight they'll get!

Im all for equal rights, but it MUST be equal rights in all things.  You want a gay league? Cool.  Let me have my straight one.  Just because its "unofficial" does not mean anything.  There might be a stigma against being gay in that sport, but its a lawsuit waiting to happen if they are removed for it.

No one saying anything against the Boy Scouts is also inaccurate.  They have been having issues with this for a very long time.

Any organization that requires use of public funds, in ANY WAY (direct money, use of public property without paying for a license, etc) should be required to be open for all.  Private sports, colleges and any other organization that in no way takes public money should be allowed to run things how they want.

Im all for Black/White/Latino/Gay/Straight Only Private organizations.

And to answer the question: Yes I am all for them getting kicked out.

The thing is that these "gay sports leagues" exist as palces were homosexual can practice sports without needing to act closeted to make homophobes comfortable with their presence. There were similar leagues for blacks back when whites were uncomfortable having them on their teams. When sports will no longer be homophobic, then these gay leagues will probably disappear. 'Till then they're a nice way to offer gays a friendly envirnoment.

Totally agree about the part I put in italics. The Boy Scouts want to have its cake and eat it too: they wanna discriminate against gays, but also recieve public funding. If such a hate organisation like the Boy Scouts is gonna be endorsed by the Goverment, they might as well give public funding to the Klu Klax Klan.

Exactly why I support them getting kicked out.  Tho if they are getting public money (of which cause I have no idea) they should be free for all.

As far as the Boy Scouts are concerned, if they receive public funds then they should be open to ALL campers (girls not withstanding, thus the name Boy Scouts....but thats another story).  The issue with Leaders, is another story.  I do not see a problem with that either, but the parents of the kids attending should be informed.  It would be the same as having my daughter (if I had one) go to Girl Scouts camp and having a Guy Leader.  Not saying I would have a problem with it, but Id like to know.

It seems we basically agree.  I just hate the word "equal rights" in general.  We compound the problem by allow "special circumstances" for any individual group.

Its discrimination, the entire league should be shut down.

Thing is the Boy Scouts aren't just practicing discrimination based on sexual orientation, but also based on religious beliefs. Atheists are not allowed to join either.

I think it's ridiculous that there IS a gay-only softball team. If it were the reverse, there would be an uproar.

It's segregation of the worst kind - self-inflicted.

Read above posts for clarification. This issue has already been addressed.

If the league is a private entity, then I see no issues with them discriminating against people.

Private entities should be allowed to select whomever they wish to participate in the services they provide - even if they discriminate against age, gender, orientation, religion, race, and so on.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

All I know is that if a gay guy was kicked out of the MLB or something for being gay there would be huge uproar. This is unacceptable.

They should actually sue for discrimination just to prove that its not only "majorities" that discriminate.

it's not as cut and dry as you're all making out. A straight team rejecting a gay person is blatant homophobia. But this is a gay team, and gay for a reason, because it's hard to come out in sports and if you do it's a hostile environment. This gay team is for gay folk to play without having any of the worries.

Like I said earlier I would have let the few straights stay, but getting rid of them doesn't show hetrophobia, if they can only support a certain amount of gay people in the team they need to make sure gay people are getting the chance and not straight people.
