Er, gays are still not accepted in Sports, I can only name a handful of gay Sportstars, and that aint cos they're all straight ...

Do you mean if one wants to play softball in the us he better hide that he's gay? Or the other "manly" sports that they like? I really don't know how things stand with this, but I do admit that I don't know of any gay fotballer or tennis player for that matter. The women, however, fared better in that regard.

Well, duh! All women athletes are lesbians, silly.

Excluding religious occupations, sports is probably the field where homophobia is most rampant. The clubs, teammates and fans would give any athlete who dared to come out a very hard time, and no club would want him afterwards (so while discrimination isn't really official, there's definately a lot of unofficial discrimination).

Also, LOL @ the bolded.

Ah yes, homophobia.

Back to the OP, I think that a Gay Softball League, as in organized by the gay community with everyone wellcome would be far more sucessfull in aleviating homophobia for example, cause straight guys need a bit of time to get used to the ideea and then they are ok with things I think, and such a league would facilitate that.

i disagree with the fury's assumption and think its discriminatory

Sorry that my opinion has caused this, I don't mean it to cause offense by it. It just how I believe my mind and other minds work when sexual orientation is in question. In the case of Seece, he has a different opinion.

Well then, I don't find women attractive, just beautiful (the pretty ones obviously). But I view them as objects when I see pictures (in terms of visual appearence, not people lol)

That said I don't think I've ever seen a woman in the flesh and though, beautiful ...

I'm not going to push this issue, we have different opinions, as we are moving from the main subject of the thread but I understand your reasoning and accept it, even if I personally don't share it.

And what reason is that? I understand that in the past gay players in any sport were discriminated against, but I don't think that attitude is accepted anymore. I know this is another direction for the discussion, but is this fighting discrimination with discrimination?

There's too many sarcastic comments and questions coming into mind right now, and I'm not one to have an educated opinion about how easy or difficult it is to be gay , but sports leagues based on sexual orientation is  stupid. Not being black enough, white enough, gay enough or romanian enough is also fucking stupid.

Er, gays are still not accepted in Sports, I can only name a handful of gay Sportstars, and that aint cos they're all straight ...

I'm pretty sure I could tell you of a single English League footballer player I know that is gay. Of course at the same time, I don't care if they are or not but it does seem like because of the nature of the game, it's less acceptable.

Hmm, pie.

If they're not gay they shouldn't be on a gay team.
But things like that are very hard to prove I guess.

Actually, it isn't. They just have to show them by  doing.

And if we created a Straight Only League it would be wrong.

There already is a straight-only league (albeit unofficially): the American Softball League.

(also, the Boy Scouts is a straight-only organization, and no one's saying a thing against them)

Im all for equal rights, but it MUST be equal rights in all things.  You want a gay league? Cool.  Let me have my straight one.  Just because its "unofficial" does not mean anything.  There might be a stigma against being gay in that sport, but its a lawsuit waiting to happen if they are removed for it.

No one saying anything against the Boy Scouts is also inaccurate.  They have been having issues with this for a very long time.

Any organization that requires use of public funds, in ANY WAY (direct money, use of public property without paying for a license, etc) should be required to be open for all.  Private sports, colleges and any other organization that in no way takes public money should be allowed to run things how they want.

Im all for Black/White/Latino/Gay/Straight Only Private organizations.

And to answer the question: Yes I am all for them getting kicked out.

This is just the beginning. These homosexuals will take over and exclude all of us. What next? Will a homosexual man discriminate against me and not allow me to have sex with him just because I am heterosexual? We should draw the line somewhere.

The thing is that these "gay sports leagues" exist as palces were homosexual can practice sports without needing to act closeted to make homophobes comfortable with their presence. There were similar leagues for blacks back when whites were uncomfortable having them on their teams. When sports will no longer be homophobic, then these gay leagues will probably disappear. 'Till then they're a nice way to offer gays a friendly envirnoment.

Totally agree about the part I put in italics. The Boy Scouts want to have its cake and eat it too: they wanna discriminate against gays, but also recieve public funding. If such a hate organisation like the Boy Scouts is gonna be endorsed by the Goverment, they might as well give public funding to the Klu Klax Klan.
