People shouldn't jump to conclusions. It's possible that Nintendo advertising will kick in during the second week of the bundle rather than the first one as was the case for the price cut in the West.

That's hilarious.

Never hurts to be hopeful, :D.

Can I ask why it's hillarious, though? If it happened everywhere else, why not in Japan?

Because Japan is different from the rest of the world, the biggest effect always takes place on the first week. Plus have you actually checked that there hasn't been any advertisement for the bundles? That would be down right stupid from a marketing point of view. What's the point of even releasing something if you are not telling people that you will? And the Wii is dead in Japan, let's face it, this was the bump due to the new bundle.

It's quite tragic.

Yeah, who the heck advertises a new bundled .. the Wii got advertisments in the west because it actually got a price cut.

That doesn't make it different from the rest of the world. Usually, the biggest effect always takes place on the first week everywhere. Since somehow its proper boost and advertisement took place in the second week of the price cut in the West, this could potentially mean that the bundle, its Japanese counterpart, will do the same. Sure, it might be stupid marketing-wise, but Nintendo did it everywhere else so why not in Japan?

Also, while the Wii is very much dead in Japan, people are being even more pessimistic than is called for.

I agree that it is quite possible that the bundle will do better second week seeing as Nintendo release the product then advertise. This is a pattern we have seen repeated in the west on many occasion leading to scoffs then significant backtracks such as with Wii Party last year. It may not be their strategy in Japan, but we shall see in a week or so - perhaps by Monday's preview.

Yes.

www.spacemag.org - contribute your stuff... satire, comics, ideas, debate, stupidy stupid etc.

I disagree, I predict the June 23 week rise to only be of around 3K!

Wii sales will only touch 20k ever again on three occasions:

1) Week of Dragon quest X launch
2) Week after Dragon Quest X launch
3) Zelda SS launch.

Face it, its dead.

Excluding holidays, surely?

It will most likely teeter at 16k during those times.

you are not serious about holiday numbers, right?

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

It won't happen. It didn't really rise when Wii Party was released last Summer in Japan. Wii Party is probably bigger than all of the games you mentioned combined...without Wii Play Motion of course.

I don't think these games will do much until the Holiday's. That is what the Wii does now. No matter how many games get released or how big they are...they don't do anything in Japan until the Holiday's. To explain, I expect Wii to sell around the same as it has been and maybe get a slight boost. During the Holiday's though the Wii will do better since these games were released now...its kind of like an after effect.

The Wii kind of does that in America and Europe too now except not to such a big effect. Wii is kind of officially the Holiday system.

yes, i think we are going to see some kind of rebound, even if i think that the source's prediction are a little bit optimistic. i expect Wii to rise to 10k/week levels until the holydays and then the usual (but in a smaller scale) explosion.

I think that sales will reach a new level, probably above 10k, at least for some time. Wii, if i remember correctly has yet to see a new price cut. In my opinion, that will come around Christmas/MP9 (if it launches this year) or around DQX launch to spur sales. Next year will truly be the defining period for Wii. What will Nintendo do to keep Wii alive until Wii U launches?

**Tried closing bold tag.

That didn't work.

This comes froms someone who gets on the net and tv a lot during the summer season.
