Should Nintendo make all future controllers compatable with future system's

Alright so I got to thinking with WiiU, this new controller that will open up all kinds of possibilities to gaming. I couldn't help but wonder if Nintendo will keep this trend up. Will the next generation also have a unique controller and if so will WiiU and Wiimotes still be supported. Then look ten years down the line with the third generation from now will it too have a unique controller and if so will the Wiimote still be playable?

If the WiiU controller and Wiimotes aren't compatable with future system's what is going to happen to Virtual Console? I have grown accustomed to buying all my favorite games on virtual console, but in the future with Nintendo coming up with so many controllers will their be room for playing classics and older Wii games, GCN games?

Infact we can be pretty sure GameCube games will be in VC for WiiU, but no GameCube controller, will we all be stuck playing them with a VC controller? (I prefer the Wave Bird). Will we see Nintendo's consoles be completely backwards compatable with controllers or will their be an end to VC games as we know them?

I know this isn't an immediate danger, but I was just thinking how it'll work ten years from now. With the drastic evolution in gaming brought on by Nintendo's innovations what will happen to the games we play today, will we be able to play those games on future Nintendo systems?

Maybe they will do that. But if they release a new console with a new kind of controller + compatible with all other wireless controllers that they have released the previous gen, then after 3-4 gens we'll end up with 4 diffrent controllers + many perhiprels (or whaterver it's spelled) like balance board etc.
It doesn't sound easy to play with all that together and it takes up a lot of space, aspecially if their controller become bigger and bigger.

Imagine playing with Balance board, Vitality Sensor, Wii U tablet and nunchuck together :O That's almost impossible!

Well one of those devices have slipped into Mythology. I like backwards compatability. I have all my GameCube games and controllers in a box in the closet. I take them out every once and a while to play. You could do the same with your old controllers. Now if you don't think they should make the consoles backwards compatable with the consoles, should we just keep all the old consoles? They take up alot of room, I myself don't have many older consoles because I live in an apartment and keeping every old console and their games takes up way to much room.

Also what about VC , you won't be able to purchase or play older games, that will be a huge hit to Nintendo's online sales. Not to mention turn many gamers off of their products. VC is doing wonders for Nintendo if they keep innovating however they need to find a way for gamers to play those older games!

P.S - its already the case, imagine playing with the Balance board, Wiimote, WiiPlus add on, Nun-chuck all together? I already have. Though I don't think the WiiU controller will be used in conjunction with the other controller devices! Other then maybe the Balance Board!

I was pleased (though expecting) when I saw the wiimotes were compatible, and the added bonus of the balance board was great too.

About the GC: Just like Nintendo had that limited SNES controller for the Wii, I can see them releasing a GC-to-Wiimote adapter or even better a bluetooth WaveBird. If they don't, Nyko or someone else will. At least the WiiU controller and CC are somewhat GC related.
