Last I checked, hardcore RPGs like Dragons Age and The Witcher 2 had a lot of these 'negatives'.
But I must ask: What is an incredibly hardcore RPG in today's day and age (made in the past 5 years)?
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Witcher 1 and 2
Alpha Protocol
Divinity II
Risen
Drakensang II (1 is crap)
But probably last really hardcore RPG was Vampire Bloodlines.

Sorry about that, I'm hardcore Elder scrolls player following ES series since Daggerfall
I geuss most of you here only touched Oblivion, I can assure you that Oblivion is the worst game in the ES series those call Oblivion a great ES game are newbies to Elder scrolls series.
Morrowind is a OK ES game in terms of alien feelings and background story, but short-ass dugeons and combat system suck balls.
Daggerfall is the best ES game and from what I've read Skyrim is heading the right direction;
No class is a right choice because classes are useless in both Morrowind and Oblivion, in Skyrim you have perk trees this sounds closer to Daggerfall and it's good.
And random quests ideas are from Daggerfall, random encounters ideas are from Fallout. These two things will be included in Skyrim which is freaking awesome
The world in Oblivion is lifeless and they change that in Skyrim. The world in Skyrim is much better than Oblivon from the demo
The combat system in both Morrowind and Oblivion sucks and they upgrade this in Skyrim which looks very good, probably the best Fighting mechanics in ES sereis since Daggerfall
And Dragon encounters are freaking epic and amazing;
In short: Oblivion is the worst game in ES series and Skyrim is heading to the right direction
Yes, and Skyrim will have way more depth than Oblivion and Assasin creed combined
So what? I know a lot of games that don't feature any of this and are still amazing none the less.
WE should NOT look at what the games do not do, BUT more at the things they do.
level-scaling in Skyrim will be closer to Fallout 3 and Morrowind unlike Oblivion
Skyrim tries to recify many flaws in Oblivion; Oblivion has so many flaws but it's still a better game than most of games we recieved today (call of duty, Assasin Creed...ect)
Yeah they removed attributes and Classes,
Classes are useless in Oblivion and Morrowind, most players choose custom classes so what's the big deal?
But we have 280 perks and perk trees which will add more depth to the character building;

Daggerfall didn't have classes? Excuse me, but did we play the same game?
At the start of the game, before you start on the Privateer's Cabin, you get to choose from a pre-set of classes (mage, thief, warrior) or make your own custom class. Each class have their own skills (and in Daggerfell there well a hell of a lot more skills to make each class different, like the Backstabbing, Critical Strike and Pickpocket Skills for the Thief class). How having perk trees comes any closer to Daggerfall? It's the same system that has always been in place on TES games, except that in Arena, the skills system wasn't in place yet (plus you had a nice questionnary which would point you to an archetype class based on your answers, pretty much like Fallout 3 did with the G.O.A.T test to mark the tagged skills for your character).
And the random quests in Daggerfall aren't that random at all. You have a list of quests from a certain quest giver (Knights order, Nobles, Templar orders, etc.) and from that list, a quest is given to you randomly. Eventually you would end up playing all of them, albeit in a random order in each playthrough. IF you want true random quests, then those are found in TES:Arena, with the random delivery quests, artifact quests, capture a criminal quests, etc.
I agree with you in the combat department, though Morrowind did retain most of the elements from Daggerfall's combat system. Oblivion, on the other hand, discarded most of them in exchange for a simpler combat system.

>fast travel. land was designed with fast travel in mind, so expect copy-pasta landscape again (speedtree logo on skyrim website). cities are small and use the same 2 buildings
----------------------------------
the city in Skyrim will be bigger and better in Oblivion;
no werewolves, no vampires,
-----------------------
these are not confirmed by Bethesda
and no mounts besides horses
-----------------------
Are you new to ES sereis? You can mount the other animals beside horses in which game? Arena? Daggerfall? Morrowind? Oblivion?
>fast travel. land was designed with fast travel in mind, so expect copy-pasta landscape again

did you play the game? So why did you say the landscape in Skyrim will be copy-pasta?
some information in OP are so wrong end of discussion
Meh Oblivion gave me the shits, as did Fallout 3. I just kinda took it for granted that Skyrim would be even more annoying. Colour me unsurprised.
