Forums - Gaming Discussion - Skyrim- the erosion of a once great series

>auto aim (magnetic) for melee and ranged, NPC romances inspired by Bioware, waiting regenerates full health, attributes are removed, and blood-on-screen when hit.

>no pauldron or legging slots (e3 demo), no spellcrafting, no levitating, randomly generated quests, no mounted combat, and classes removed.

>no crossbows, no traditional spears, no flails, no capes, no clothes under or over armor. linear quests with no decisions or paths. no drunkenness in a NORDIC SETTING.

>dragons respawn. you cant fight more than 2 dragons at once, and shout spamming and guards kill them easily (seen in e3 demo).

>consoles are focus platform (so no open cities or interiors). game uses slightly modified gamebryo, has apple-based UI, and looks just like Fallout

>fast travel. land was designed with fast travel in mind, so expect copy-pasta landscape again (speedtree logo on skyrim website). cities are small and use the same 2 buildings

>fewer factions. only thieves, fighters, and mages guilds now. dark brotherhood is only an interaction in the main quest, but todd thinks that's an additional faction.

>no werewolves, no vampires, no diseases (dragonborn are immune), and no mounts besides horses. teleportation ladders remain, and quest markers remain.

>dungeon&exterior areas lock on the level you first visit them with. level-scaling, daedric bandits, and easy gold remain.

>less skills. no medium armor, no mysticism, no hand-to-hand, no atheltics, and no acrobatics to name just a few. also no diagonal walking/run animations.

>Bethesda said stats are too complex so don't expect them

What the crap? That doesn't seem cool at all!

Eh as much as I loved Oblivion it was a bit of a jumbled mess.

Most of this just sounds like streamlining stuff which is no big deal at all. A couple things suck like only Horse mounts ( I was really holding out hope for dragon riding late in the game ) but overall its mostly balanceing stuff and making it more accessable to more gamers, so all in all a good thing.

Don't worry you'll still be getting an awesome open world 300 plus hour RPG.

Am I overreacting if I cancel my preorder because this game doesn't seem to follow the line of an Elder Scrolls game? It seems every iteration Bethesda takes out more aspects and just focuses on delivering more content to the more narrow selections, as if to say "well this was the deadline and this is all we had so we're not going to focus on any other options like attributes or dynamic towns or anything that makes an ES game an ES game".

Please shit in my hand, it will be cheaper than buying Skyrim. But seriously though, Skyrim would be a great game if Oblivion and Morrowind never existed, this just seems like a step down from the previous game. It's a shame.

Edit - And I honestly wouldn't mind waiting a few years for them to just add to what is already established in Skyrim like attributes, vampires, werewolves; you know anything that can create a diversion to what seems to be a more and more linear series.

I don't mind the NPC romances...but everything else...just wow.

Thank god Dark Souls isn't heading this way.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Well I guess Morrowind will forever be the best Elder Scrolls games, from what this new info sounds like skyrim will be even more easier than oblivion and I didn't think that was possible, I guess we'll have to wait until Next Gen to see Cities that  are actually a part of the world again.

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

From what I've read and heard. Skyrim not only plays smoother and feels more natural, but doing away with classes was best choice the series could have made. Now you have access to everything, but have to decide where you put your time to learn.

All the playtests I have read including die hard fans on YouTube are loving skyrims changes.

I personally can't wait. And think it sounds and looks the best yet.
