In a fight versus a shaolin monk and a viking who would win and why?

The Shaolin Monk. Yes, the Vikings were good at hitting things with hammers and building boats, but a shaolin monk could probably pick up a boat and throw it at a viking.

1v1 The Monk.  The Monk would keep from being hit and win.

In mass, The Vikings would win.  The weapons would win this one.

Vikings don't have their own Mortal Kombat title. Speaks for itself.

Judging from Deadliest Warrior, the Vikings. They were neck and neck between the Samurai, who were also armored, and won about the same number of battles with their short range and mid range weapons. The Shaolin won against the Maori because of the ineffective Stingray Spear, but they were outclassed in short range and midrange. Armor makes a whole lot of difference, and I believe the Shaolin would not be able to defeat the Viking where it mattered: short to midrange combat. If it were an unarmored fight the Shaolin monks would do well, but the between two the Vikings would win.

Context please. Modern day vikings are what we would call the Norwegians and possibly Dutch (Someone from Europe is going to slaughter me for this analogy).

If we pit a battle when Vikings were at the height of their raping the British Isles power, then I would take the Vikings because warfare is not a 1 vs 1 arcade game. It was conducted en masse and in small groups. I recall more Shaolin monk temples being burnt down with monks slaughtered by the Chinese than vice versa.

Likewise, the physical comparison would have resembled the Vikings averaging a Lebron James physique compared to the Shaolin having the body of a Gilbert Gottfried.

No comparison, Vikings because they had more experience in warfare, conducted war en masse and in small groups, while the Shaolin had amazing discipline and martial arts mastery, they are not a martial people with a martial heart. Instead, the Shaolin would lose a few battles and try to find peace higher up in the mountains or try to convert the Vikings.

Since most people are weeaboos on sites like this and believe that asian martial arts will crush any tech advantage, I'm sure the monks will win the poll. That being said western equipment was always consistently head and shoulders above eastern armors and weapons and this is no exception. The vikings take it in battle or 1 on 1.

Hard to say really. Monks prefer peace over violence, and are skilled in both close quarter combat, and various types of weaponry. I've seen them with my own eyes lay down on wood covered in nails, smash rocks with their heads, and bend the tips of swords with their own belly. Vikings on the other hand has physical strength and weaponry. I'm going to have to go with monks by an inch.

I saw a video on youtube where monks did things like do handstands on one finger and throw pins at a mirror and crack it.

Having said that, in an all-out war, Vikings would most likely win.
