Forums - Sony - So How do I contact Sony to fix my PS3?

So my PS3 died a few weeks back.

If my Dragon Age II disc wasn't stuck inside it, I would've just left my PS3 alone. But the fact that it's inside, I'm trying to find a way to get it out.

I searched Youtube for this stuff and the fan test thing doesnt work on my model or rather most the methods shown doesnt work because mine is a launch 60GB model and the fan test adn spitting out the disc works for 40 Gbs and later.

So now I've decided to send my PS3 to Sony so that they can at least take the disc out for me and perhaps do something about my harddrive (like my save files) and return them to me so that when I do get a new PS3, I'd be ready.

My question is, which site or which email do I use to contact Sony about this? One thing you must note is that I'm in Australia right now and it's an Australian PS3 and I'm kinda clueless as to who to contact or where to get the contact info.

So if someone could help me out here that would be much appreciated.

smash it open? :P

Hey, I don't really have the contact number for residents of Australia. But, my PS3 60GB died in late May and I had Infamous stuck in the drive. I simply opened up my PS3 and gained access to my Blu-Ray drive which I also opened and was able to easily take the disc out.

In short words, open it up! I'm sure you won't break your disc in the process, its very well protected.

P.S. I'm not sure what to do about retrieving your HDD game saves though.

You don't. We'll call you.

They use 1300 in Australia? Anyway, from my experience (in the US at least, for the PS2), their repair service is good and fast. Just call them up, tell them your problem, and they charge your credit card and you just ship your PS3 to them and wait for the new one to come to you.

If the ps3 has the warranty seal on, is the replace/repair free???

Only if the seal is intact and the concole is still within warrenty (you get 12 months from when you buy the console).
