Actually... the GTX 590 is the single most powerful GPU out right now... AFAIK anyway. It's also incredibly expensive - for its price in my country, I could build three decent & complete Pentium Dual-core computers ;)

However, everything that was needed to be suggested, already got it. So good luck, eh? :P

Isn't it $850 or some absolutely unnecesary price like that?

$800!

However, the 6990 HD looks to be even more powerful. And it's also $800, haha.

Ugh lol thats stupid expensive! Can you imagine if you SLI'd 3 of those together? You'd probably need a small generator just to run that damn computer but my god it would be worth it!

GTX 590 is just GTX 580 X 2 at a lower clock speed...same GPU and not a sinlge GPU, so its correct to say 5870 is the strongest single GPU on the market. 590 is a beast of a card but it doesn't scale very well if you ad 2 of them.

For some reason GTX 580 X 3 will smoke GTX 590 X2 (which is GTX 580 X4)

So damn confusing. But heck, I'm not a man to do SLI or crossfire, so I'm not gonna go for any of them... already got a build w/a single 560ti for me, should be enough for decent gfx @ 60fps.

And the latter is... just weird. Must be a big difference in clock speeds I guess? I'm a real noob as to how to compute gfx card perfomance.

You suck until and unless I get one of these Nvidia packages.

I hear Far Cry 2 is pretty intensive. S.T.A.L.K.E.R is as well.

So a while back I posted http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=128482this thread about a budget PC I had built. That's still my PC, except my power supply is now 750 watts and my graphics card is the nVidia GeForce GTX 580 (currently the highest performing single GPU on the market, though you could get better performance with SLI of two of them or two weaker but still very powerful cards). You're probably wondering how I ended up with a $450 graphics card on a budget build, and it's because we are currently working with nVidia to provide people with reviews on 3D Vision games and information on the 3D in games, thus the need for a top of the line 3D capable graphics card, which our partners at nVidia sent out to me.

So basically, I'm tyring to get a handle on what it's capable of. I've already run The Witcher 2 in 1080p maxed out (including ubersampling) in the mid 20fps range, above 30 without ubersampling, but I'd like some other games to benchmark. So please give me some helpful suggestions so I can get a good idea of what my PC's updated capabilities are. Games that make good use of 3D are, of course, appreciated, as that's something I'm testing out as well.

Nope, last time I checked the ATI 6990 and the nVidia 590 owned the title of best single GPU on the market. Just wanted to point that out ;P

As disolitude said above, it's just two GTX 580s duct taped together. The GTX 580 is the most powerful single card on the market, and the 6990 is well below.

I believe you meant the 6970 is below, because the HD 6990 (being a dual card) is certainly above the GTX 580.

It's the same situation as the GTX 590. The dual card functions worse than two of the originals, which are worse than the GTX 580 by performance.

Edit: Apparently no one noticed, but I specified single GPU in the OP. Dual cards non-withstanding.

While we're talking about powerful video cards...anyone see the ASUS MARS II? Jesus christ... I think this pic tells all you need to know about it.

If you want something that is not shooter you could try Shogun 2

That's not a very hard game to run on the highest graphics though.

You must be joking, Shogun 2 is a definite stress test, especially with the DX11 update.
