The 360 control is the best for shooters and is awful and for fighters and decent for everything else while I think the ps3 plays all type very well so IMO the ps3 has the best all round controller

Definitely the Dual Shock 3. I like the aligned analog sticks, the D-pad, as well as the size and shape. The 360 controller has some strange design decisions that make it worse IMO. The D-pad stinks and there's this ridge on each side where you place your hands around the grips which, after an extended gaming session, begins to dig into your fingers. Though, I don't find the swapped left stick and D-pad a hindrance. On the other hand, I fail to see it as being any better for gaming.

The only thing that would make the Dual Shock perfect is if the analog sticks and trigger buttons were concave and not convex. Guess that will come for the Dual Shock 4.

I'm a PS3 and Wii guy, but I'll admit that the 360 has a far better controller, I had to buy a set of button extensions in order to make the shoulder buttons not feel like crap on my PS3.

doesnt bother me / dont care i can adapt to them both very easily

Whichever you're more familiar with >.

I definitely like the 360 controller better for racing games, but for most other games I prefer the PS3 controller.

I prefer the weight, d-pad, buttons and analog stick positions of the dualshock controller, but like the triggers and concave tops of the analog sticks better from the 360 controller.

Maybe next gen will have the perfect controller.

they are basically the same.

i ever so slightly prefer the Dual Shock. for a few reasons.
pros:
-logical placement of analog sticks (it literally makes no sense to have one up, and the other down, why not both up or both down, whats with having them in weird placement)
-the buttons for the R1/L1 are much better on PS3 (plus i prefer shooting with those buttons because they have very little fall, so are very responsive and quick)
-D-pad is vastly better on the DS3, its very odd how bad the xbox one is.
-sixaxis, though most games dont incorporate it, its really nice when it is, like KZ3, and uncharted it is almost necessary. for example, your climbing, and there is a ledge behind you, and one below you; you want to jump to the one behind you, so what do you do. do you press down on the analog stick, well how does the game know you want to go back, or if you want to go down. thats where sixaxis comes in. you tilt the sixaxis to jump back. then it also help with grenade tosses because you can aim far off in the distance with the camera staying on target instead of it raising really really high and you are looking at the sky instead of the target.

cons:
inferior shape, just slightly, but still inferior, its still comfortable but the xbox controller is a little more (the xbox ergonomics would be perfect if it got rid of that battery pack, it cramps my finger after a while becuase i cant extend them more)
-triggers are inferior the the xbox controller, should be concave (though i prefer R1 for shooting so doesnt really effect me in shooters, but its still vastly inferior)

nuetral:
analog shape, i dont find a significant difference in the concave/convex analog sticks. (though i guess since im more used to the convex DS3, i would choose that and i like that it distributes good pressure all over the center of my thumb.

but in all the controllers are basically the same. my perfect controller would be. the xbox shape, without the battery pack, ps3 face buttons, Dpad, and analog placement. and the xbox triggers with sixaxis

The thing about the 360 controller is that after heavy use the buttons always start to stick whereas with the dualshock (PS,PS2,PS3) the buttons have never been a problem. I don't know what the engineers at MS were thinking when making the D-Pad but they should be fired. The two things I like about the 360 controller are the analog placements and the size/curve/shape of the controller, the same can't really be said about the DS3.

Overall I'm with Jay520 on this and am gonna say it's a tie.

tie, but imma say that whole 360 d-pad issue with fighters is bs just use the analog stick thats all i ever use for fighters on consoles and im quite awesome at tekken. And i can pull any move off in any other fighter pretty easily.
