Forums - Gaming - Gaming prices around the globe

Price difference is a sore stigma stuck to gamers specially in the times we live in, similar to game region exclusives. We feel jelous of our fellow gamers that get treated with the care we want for ourselves. It still talked about even here, a recent article from gmrFeed touched this subject though limited to the UK market only... and it exploded.

But why are prices so vast between all the regions? I think it's mainly market size. The smaller it goes, the more expensive luxuries like entertainment become. The American market gets treated the best because it's biggest one, then we have the traditional Japanese market and lastly the emerging European one.

You think prices will become cheaper as gaming generations go by and market grows?

I know my country has a real small market, even smaller because of the cultural trend of going pirate. But spending double for every console and just about the same for every game out there makes it impossible.
I was hoping digital software made things easier for those of us in Argentina who want to stay legal to show support for the industry, but then I cannot make purchases with my local credit card nor with my argentinian PSN account (i cannot even download demos). I hate that.
Anyway. I wish gaming went cheaper. I doubt it will happen.

Gaming is going to get more expensive as development costs increase

~~~~ Mario Kart 8 drove far past my expectations! Never again will I doubt the wheels of a Monster Franchise! :0 ~~~~
being in an nation that while small population buys so much electronics and has 1 million ps3 and 1 million 360+ sold and 2 million wii kinder makes me upset that we are paying still 110 RRP. Sure one retailer sells at 89 some times but thats still expensive. An with being able to import an uk copy for no more than 55 dollars (yep i can import at an price less than what you americans pay!). What i dont get is how i pay less for having the game travel half the globe when i am closer to its manufacturing point lol. I know all the reasons as to why but its very evident that eb games and game australia have dug themselves there own hole for not fixing the issue asap and are losing out to importing and piracy.
Tho it wont be long before games wont be sold in australia anymore by retail since they will all close down for high prices, but does that mean that game sales will decrease, nope. Everyone will go online and import.
hoestly i hope retailers close soon, especially in australia since we are spending 50 billion on high speed internet and i dont want to pay extra for dd which everyone is going to do once it comes in the next few years. And this will be the same in the future for many countries when internet gets improved and DD becomes an better option.
Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong
Development costs will not increase from what they are now, all the console manufacturers know that its commerical sucide to make consoles that are expensive to develope for so they going to try there best to reduce costs so they have consoles with games then no games. Add this to increasing gaming market and more and more games developers which will drive more compeition in the future, and the prices will drop.
Look at the mobile game market, since its cheap that many develoepers can get in, the compeition is so ferce that many had to go free and have adds to compete then charge 1 dollar.
DO SOMETHING ABOUT AUSTRALIA'S RIDICULOUS BULLSHIT PRICES
That is all I have to say about this matter.
Here in Brazil, one PS3 slim 320GB cost ... 1300 USD officially(2000 BRL). But in the grey market it cost like 600USD(1000BRL).
And they still want us to buy original games, with cost 120 USD(200 BRL).
Things here are crazy, the law say that consoles and games for console is Gambling.
India
PS3 160gb Rs.20,000
360 4gb Rs.14,499
games cost the same after conversion,consoles are costlier than other places
nobody knows anything about video games here
Import all your games, tell all your family and friend to import all their games. Until the local industry is hurt economically, they will never change. I am doing my part by importing all my games from the UK and the US. I save massive amount of money and encourage all my friends to do the same to combat this inequality.
Games currently cost £50 here in England, I don't see it coming down.
PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.
