Nintendo Bundles Red Wiimote Plus With Twelve Mini Games

Wii Play successor due out in July.

Posted on 06.22.2011 at 11:33, by Anoop Gantayat

One of the most popular early Wii titles was Wii Play, which bundled a Wiimote with a low price collection of mini games. Nintendo is resurrecting that bundle idea for the Wiimote Plus.

The new Wiimote Plus Variety Pack includes a red Wiimote Plus controller and a collection of 12 mini games. The bundle will be released on July 7, priced ¥4,800.

The pricing makes this into a Wii Play-like value. A Wiimote Plus on its own normally costs ¥3,800, making this the equivalent of getting a game for just ¥1,000.

The 12 included mini games are:

Ice Cream ChallengeHold the Wiimote like a cone and attempt to keep your ice cream scoops from falling. Supports two player cooperative play.Ishi Nage Mizu KiriToss the Wiimote Plus at a pond like a stone. Playable by four players competitively.Umbrella RiderHold an umbrella to fly across a race course. Adjust the Wiimote Plus to attract the most wind. During two player play, you can get in the way of your opponent.Treasure at the Bottom of the SeaAttempt to gather treasure from the bottom of the sea. Hold the Wiimote Plus horizontally and rotate it to pull a rope, raising your character up. In two player cooperative mode, you'll need to keep balance.Ball and SeesawHold the Wiimote Plus like a seesaw, and bounce a ball to strike various objects in the stage. In two player play, you compete for score.Whac-A-MoleA four player version of whac-a-mole.Pose Mii PlusTurn your Wiimote Plus to make your Miis fall cleanly through holes.360 Degree ShootingAim at the screen and shoot enemies. You can also follow targets that move off screen.Jumping LandYour Miis are jumping about the stage. Use the Wiimote to change their direction and gather treasure while advancing them to the goal.Ghost MansionAttempt to catch ghosts who've moved off the screen. When you aim your Wiimote, it will make a sound indicating if the ghost is in your current direction. Use that as a guide to the ghost's position.Fuwatto BalloonUse the Wiimote to make the wind blow and guide a set of balloons to the goal. Compatible with two player competitive play.Docking StationControl a space ship to move parts into sockets on a space station.

I think can get the blue one with WiiSportResort or as a standalone. The red one was only available with the limited edition Mario Wii.

wii play was rubbish, just seemed like a demo disk from a magazine cover although the game where you pose you mii to pop bubbles was pretty good. this sequel looks a hell of a lot better imo

In Japan, the Red controller has been available as a standalone purchase since the end of last year, when the WMplus was finally included inside the controller itself. I picked one up myself earlier this year (along with a red nunchuck)

I probably would've picked up this bundle if it was available at the time. I wanted to get the Fling Smash bundle, but it only comes with the pink controller... -_- Wii Sports Resort Plus comes with the nice looking blue controller, but I already have the game from when it first came out.

lol @ bolded

Maybe the blue Resort deal is Japan only (I haven't looked over here since I got Resort+adaptor). Funny enough, I've done the oposite of you, bought the standalone blue and was thinking on getting WiiPlayMotion with the red one if I could sell my old wiimote+motionplus. Hmm, knowing it's standalone in Japan, I might wait and see if the red standalone gets released here. My ideal controller setup would be blue, red, black and white remote pluses! (no pink xD)

Now I have to find a sucker to buy my normal wiimote+motionplus. Any takers? :D

Heh, I did the same when WSR first came out I got the bundle with the adapter for my regular white wii controller and an extra adapter for my other white wii controller. My gf's family just got a Wii not too long ago which only came with one Wii remote plus. I took the opportunity to pass along one of my white wii controllers w/the extra adapter and got myself the red one with motion plus built-in. ;-p

I remember seeing the US trailer for Fling Smash and thought it looked good (and had the black controller bundled). Then I checked out the Japanese website and ...

If it was another color like red, black, blue, etc. I wouldn't mind, but pink???

Probably pick this up around the holiday season (even though I have 4 Wiimotes, I only have 2 Motion+ add ons). I already have one controller that I use just for Netflix (sometimes I munch down and don't clean my hands so I keep that as just Netflix remote not worrying about if it gets messed up). Plus I wouldn't mind getting one that has Wii Motion+ bundled in.

My main question though is the Wii Motion+ controller (the ones that are built in) are they any longer than the regular Wiimote? I don't like the thought of turning the controller on the side and trying to play VC games on a even longer controller (I never keep the WM+ attachment on my controllers when I play the Wiimote sideways).

Wow so the bundles NA/EU got in 2006 will start happening now in Japan. I wonder if that will affect Wii sales at all..
