Forums - Sony - Rumor: Skype coming to PSV!?

Dammit.. Sony Brasil not told that to me.

The most important thing in the brasilian article is PSN Store Brazil coming before the Childrens Day (12 November)... I love it.... finally... and there are a Welcome (like Welcome Back) plan with free games.

Doesn't Microsoft now have a veto on that?

Yes, and that's why I'm skeptical.

I doubt Microsoft can sing;e-handedly prevent Sony from putting Skype on the PSV, but their decision would now weigh in a lot more. If anything, Sony will have to pay fees, and that's it.

microsoft owns skype so i dont know why you think they cant control that.

They can control it, but I think it would be to a lesser degree then most people think because Skype was already on the PSP, iPhone, Android, and other electronics that compete with Microsoft products.

uhm..

MS doesn't have a handheld console. I'm aware they called the WP7 stuff their handheld, but all they are offering is an OS/ a platfrom and they aren't actually producing any hardware there.
I don't see how denying the other devices Skype would benefit MS in any way, so allowing Skype and cashing in on the licenses/usage they are getting through those is certainly a much much better business decision ?

Sometimes I get the impression some of you guys think those companies actually hated each other and tried to screw each other over at any cost when in reality they are just competing in some fields and cooperating in others.

While Microsoft does not have handheld console, I think they view Sony Video Game efforts regardless of handheld or console, as a direct competitive. However the rest of your statement is pretty much accurate. It shouldn't be a big problem from appearing on Sony Playstation Vita.

Makes sense for MS to let Sony use skype on the PSV

They can easily pull support for everything else. Heck, if they want, they can close down the entire service altogether. Just because it's been on other services doesn't mean they can't pull that support.

Now, that doesn't mean they WILL. I'm skeptical about them allowing it on the PS Vita, but that doesn't mean I'm convinced it won't happen.
