Forums - Gaming - Bethesda Confirms Website Hack

Bethesda has confirmed that over the past weekend a hacker group "attempted an unlawful intrusion" of its websites.

Speaking on its official blog, Bethesda said that "While no personal financial information or credit card data was obtained, the hackers may have gained access to some user names, email addresses, and/or passwords."

It has advised users to change their passwords on all Bethesda sites, and any other site for which they use a similar username, password, or email address.

The attacks were preceded by a series of Twitter threats, according to VG24/7. The hacker group Lulz Sec tweeted on June 12: "We were going to keep this little treasure chest to ourselves, but it appears the hand has been bitten. Say your prayers, Brink users. >:]"

This was soon followed by "Big lulz coming up in the near future. Time to show these bitches how it's done. #Brink #Bethesda #ZeniMax".

Bethesda also advised users to keep an "eye out for suspicious emails and account activity."

Next thing we find out VGchartz was hacked and they change all the sale numbers. I would LMFAO at people reactions. Like omg Sony has been adjusted down 48 million we can't trust vgchartz numbers. Battlefield 3 is selling more than Modern Warfare 3 now this just proves it is better.

oh it gets better btw

"The group even joked around about Bethesda upcoming game, Skyrim, demanding that the firm “add an official LulzSec top hat to Skyrim and we’ll remove your admin configurations from our incoming leak”.

Lulz Sec also plan on “embarrassing” the company very soon.

“Bethesda, give everyone more info on Skyrim and we’ll keep the user database to ourselves. However we are going to embarrass you anyway.”

The group also said it’d broke into Bethesda sites a while ago:

“Bethesda, we broke into your site over two months ago. We’ve had all of your Brink users for weeks. Please fix your junk, thanks!”

What Bethesda’s done is yet unknown, but we’re almost sure this group is doing what it does, like it name states, for the “lulz” of it all. Shame."

I can't wait till lulz sec gets caught. I really don't think that hacking other peoples stuff is funny.

*sigh*
this shit is real tired now, don't ya think?

These hackers are basically the real-life equivalent of internet trolls... and someone seriously needs to drop a real life ban hammer on them.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Good for these guys, Bethesda deserved it, since they are protecting consumer rights or something............
