aww mel your always so diplomatic! ;) Anyway I just rent heaps of games cos i know very few 3rd party games out there are worth the $70 to $100 price tag (Australian prices) if you can rent a game for a sweet deal like 3 nights for $7 then u can pretty much beat the game over the weekend and be done with it. In the long run you save hundreds while still getting to play the life outa a game and the cash u save u can spend on the good games or the games you like. I love some games that only got medicore scores :(

They are not all amazing but if you would make a list with all 3d party games of the Wii and PS3, Wii will have the most crappy 3dparty games.

Damned I played Rayman 3 today (first time finally) and wow now I know what I miss.

As is explained each and every time this is mentioned, there is a very good reason for it. Everyone expected sony domination and/or a runoff between sony and microsoft. Nobody thought that the Wii would take off as it did. As a result, there were dev teams assigned to put out quality stuff on PS3 and 360 prior to the Wii's entering the marketplace.

Once the Wii's success was realized, third parties began trying to put together quality titles, but the dev cycles on good games are longer than the time that the Wii has been on the market. If dev companies did not have a quality team in place and making a game prior to Wii's coming out, then there will (in all likelihood) not be a good game coming from that company until the length of a proper dev cycle.

As a result, yea, PS3 has better 3rd party games as of December 2007 because of the fact that third parties put full development cycles into the games, as they expected PS3 to be a success. Any solid third party games for the Wii are still in development, and/or are rushed out and therefore not quality games, after all.


Their is only one explanation..

Wii has more games = possibility of more crappy games

Wii is popular = possibility of more crappy games;

Check PS2 games, Check DS games you will find a lot of crap in their library...


 I agree with you.  The console with the market domination is obviously going to attract the shovelware.  However my point is that third party developers who were caught by surprise by the Wii's success have not had a full development cycle yet to put out a quality product.  That is why we are not seeing very many quality third party games yet.

The PS2 and the DS both have tons of shovelware, but also plenty of gems.  The Wii will be the same in about 8 more months

I don't see how any one over the age of 20 who started playing video games at the normal starting age (I would say 6 or so) could NOT be sick of shooters by now, and those that aren't how thay can consider playing shooters (1st person...) on a console better than on a PC.

You would think with the Wii selling over 18 million they would work hard on good Wii games since they could sell the most on there and still they do not try. I do not know, but I feel like only Nintendo is trying there hardest to please us with the Wii. So to all Wii game developers

That's not ENTIRELY true, remember Maxis is owned by EA and they have an outstanding track record, but from what I have read, EA as a publisher doesn't really push themselves on Maxis.

So in general:  EA published games be warry, unless it was developed by Maxis.

 And I think we can all agree that rushed yearly sport games by EA need to canned (for quality reasons, though people still buy Madden like crazy, for some reason...)

I know, that's why I said developing ;)

EA also has published Half-Life 2, Orange Box, Crysis, and others... but they are not developed by them.

The EA logo is going to be on any game they publish, so I would modify that to say if you ONLY see an EA logo and nothing else
