Forums - Sony - PSP Go was the smartest thing Sony has done in a while

Because it set up for the PS Vita perfectly. It's probably not a coincidence that the PSP Go and PS Vita are price the same at launch. Sony wanted to guage interest in a $249 PSP. It was obviously low, so they knew to go no higher for a more capable system. They also saw that people don't like Download only gaming devices, thus they gave us the NVG card for PSV games. They saw people complain that Sony made a new PSP system but didn't add a second analog stick. They saw people complain that that full PSP game selection wasn't on PS Store. And hopefully they saw that 802.11b sucks. PSP Go was brilliant, even though it may look like a failure.

I totally agree with the thread title.

These kind of threads make me lose faith in humanity.

lolol, i know you're trolling sony but i can't help but laugh. xD

The reasons for the failures of the NGP wasn't the product itself, it was the price of the product and the amount of content of the product, because digital formats work. It can work in any media if someone actually puts a solid effort. Actually you pointed that out, I should really read the whole thing before I post.....I just don't get why you think the PSP go was smart.

Well PSP Go was pretty half baked in all aspects.

Elaborate on that. It is obvious that you are anti-Sony and pro Nintendo, and hey that is perfectly fine and totally normal. However, it is nice to add to a discussion as opposed to bashing people because of their perspective on certain products and certain moves a company makes. I was guilty of this in the past and earned bans for this rightfully so. In the end I believe in the possibility that the PSP Go may have been a way to test the market. I was never a fan of the Wii and alot of its shovelware nor its Mario games, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't interested in the Metroid Prime Trilogy. I am also interested in the concept of the Wii U controller/tablet because it is trying something new, and even though I am not a fan of it being as big as it is or how only 1 can be used per system, I still think it is a good idea for a great gaming company like Nintendo to try things out. In the end competition is great for everyone, and as much as I am not a fan of Microsoft, or Nintendo's many pokemon games, I believe it is necessary for them to exist in order to help video gaming advance.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

Actually you pointed that out (the things I said), I should really read the whole thing before I post.....I just don't get why you think the PSP go was smart move, infact it was the dumbest thing, sony has done, the gameboy advance micro sounds like a better move.

Because it was a great way to test the market, just they failed to get any viable results. If 3000 didn't exist, do you think a $250 PSP Go would have sold well? I actually don't. PSP platform was what, 6 years old by then? I think they did learn from the complaints people had of it. And in the end, the Go was probably a pretty cheap expirement, at least cheaper than releasing a Download only PSP2 in between PSP and Vita and seeing it flop.

It sounds more like they did everything wrong with the GO but learned from all the mistakes.
The GO isn't a failure in that respect but it's far from the smartest move.

Basically, just because you learned from a mistake you made doesn't necessarily turn that mistake into the smartest thing you coulda done, cause you know.. the smartest thing you coulda done is not make a mistake at all and actually do proper research of the market before attempting a shot.
