It sounds more like they did everything wrong with the GO but learned from all the mistakes.
The GO isn't a failure in that respect but it's far from the smartest move.
Basically, just because you learned from a mistake you made doesn't necessarily turn that mistake into the smartest thing you coulda done, cause you know.. the smartest thing you coulda done is not make a mistake at all and actually do proper research of the market before attempting a shot.
