I can confirm this based on anecdotal evidence. Every single one of the gay people I know (and I know a lot) have had sex with a woman before becoming gay. Many gay people try to convince themselves that they're straight because it's just such a burden to be gay nowadays. There's such a stigma surrounding it. A lot of gay people don't want to be different. It comes back around to the idea that it's not a choice.

Anyway, for those gay people I know, they tried to have sex with the opposite genders and just were not into it. If some of you actually knew gay people or got to know gay people, you'd understand so much more of the argument. Sadly, that isn't usually the case. I've known lesbians try men, and gay men try women. They do it, and try it a couple times, and just hate it. They have the exact reaction as if a straight person had sex with a gay person.

In a way sapphi, the quote is true. Many gays and lesbians DO realize their sexual orientation after they have sex, it's usually a straight relationship, and they usually are repulsed.

Interesting sidenote, I had read a few months ago that as a woman gives birth to boys in succession, a process of estrogenic chemical is constantly fighting against the unborn male. With each male child, the attack is stronger, meaning a larger concentration of estrogen in the child, which adds to feminine features, and possible feminine behavior. In other words, if you are the 5th boy in your family, the chance of you having femine looks and behavior is higher than say the 2nd born boy in the family.

How much truth is in what I read remains unknown.

I can honestly say that if I have a kid and he turns out gay, it wouldn't make much of a difference to me, as long as he has good taste in men =D

Is "realize" really the appropriate word, or would "accepting" fit better? I for one knew what my sexual orientation was well before I had sex.

Yes, accept is perhaps more fitting, but they could both fit, I think. I just know of many people who didn't actually know UNTIL they had sex with a woman.

Or maybe they didn't want to know. It's what happens often sadly.I find it pretty hard to not know who you find attractive before you have sex.

I came across this the other day. Again who cares if one is gay. That doctor guy was a moron. You are who you are and one can't change what's in there soul and heart. I'm personally straight,but it just sickens me that people make such a big deal out of one's sexual preference. Whom one sleeps with is there own business.
