So in the latest in a long line of Sony Europe bringing a bizarre selection of casual-friendly titles to Vita, Looney Tunes Galactic Sports is coming later this year:

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2015/04/09/looney-tunes-galactic-sports-release-ps-vita-year/

Following hot on the heels of Muppets Movie Adventures, PS Vita Pets, Disney Infinity and Epic Mickey 2 in the "wat is dis" category.

These games are welcome, I think they are helping to sell Vita hardware in the west (look at the last NPD numbers where Vita is much better selling than the last year)!

I get that they're pinning their hopes on the younger market in Southern Europe... But surely for the same investment, they could be doing some cheaper Sony IPs of old with similar studios?

I doubt they could make much better with the budgets these games will have.  I still feel like the money would be better spend elsewhere though.

I don't really see that it would require much more in the way of resources to do authentic sequels to their PS1 and PS2 IP :) there are already the game engines created for it so they wouldn't need to start from scratch, just rather than adapting licenses into a game, they're working with a different kind of pre set.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

We know the KZ:M engine was expensive to port. So why is it sitting there not being used? Like.. A syphon filter game would be a good fit

This tbh.

And surely they could do something like Jak 4 working with like the Tearaway engine?

Sony has long abandoned first party games on vita, even cancelled a few games if rumors are true.I doubt we'll even see vita games from Sony Japan.

I don't think this is true. Sony JP certainly has one or two more titles left in the tank.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

I guess we'll see. Last game released in JP was a year ago and last game announced was at Tokyo Game Show 2013 ? I think (GR 2 with no mention of platforms.)

I'm happy as long as I get my Falcom games, but i wouldn't mind more games from Sony Japan/3rd party collaborations.

Lol, I'm fine with it too, I don't even want games like that, KZ:M is "nice" but not what I want to be playing on a Vita, with all that input lag, small analog sticks, etc... (it's probably a lot better on PS TV with a DS4) I was speaking in terms of market/success.
