Sooo.....Wazzup?

Just finished my board exams and I think I flunked big time... all that studying for nothing.

Anyways, just popped in to say that I gave SS demo another go and managed to reach cereberus or whatever that three headed dog thingy is called and all I can say is...I still dont like it.

1. The vision thing is stupid. I mean, come on, who stops in the middle of a fight to look around in special vision? you just end up dead.

I do. Its super useful when the stage has all kinds of effects going on and enemies start to camaflauge with the background. Using "Mind's Eye" allows you to point them out clearly as well as spot where key sacrificial elements are hiding on each stage.

2. I still found the book annoying. Not that I hate books, but the progression is sooooo slow.

Just click X to force the talking to progress. I don't know why the Narrator takes so many long pauses either, but its not that big of a deal.

3. Boss weak spots...sooo...how do you actually target those? like that harpy's wings and head? sure, I can see its a weakness with that stupid vision thingy, but how do i actually hit them when their way up there and I'm on the ground too busy looking for offerings and shit coz I ran out of magic? Lame!

You get an assortment of Homing Long Ranged Projectiles later on. The Spinning Axe things are my go to for targeting vertical weak points. You will find when you don't have ranged, the fights are doable, but it will always be far easier if you can get those weak points. Its really your fault for not planning ahead :P (in the real game that is)

4. leveling is dependent on whether you sacrifice or save....sooo...I tried a 19/1 build and I couldnt see any difference with my defense. resetted the level and made a 1/19 build and damage output seems the same. wtf?

Not sure, I see the difference with just a 4 level gap really. Maybe thats for the Demo.
5. like most hunting games/boss battles, my main issue with the giant beasties is...how da crap can something so huge move so fast? Cereberus isn't hard, he's just cheap as shit. How so? you run out of magic so fast its not funny. You try looking for offerings he kills you. you manage to live through that and find an offering, you try to restore your sacrifice and shit, he kills you while you try to draw out whatever crap your trying to draw out. You manage to live through that and again run out of magic, you use up all resources. then a random enemy pops up, you say, hooray and try to kill it, then cereberus kills you. you manage to live through that again, and kill the small fry, you try to sacrifice it, then cereberus kills you.....honestly, the difficulty in this game is stupid and cheap. Not to mention tactics and planning is stupid too. you can plan all you want but you'll run out of magic all the time and then you will die.

You do know there is a dodge right?....... I think you are just doing it wrong. Lock onto Archfiends pretty much at all times. You always want them in your line of sight, otherwise they sneak and pounce right on you. Most Archfiend attacks can be dodged if timed well. The hardest to evade so far for me is Wyvern who is a fucking Bruce Lee with Wings.

I can go on and on on how much I dislike SS but I'll just live it at that. Its sad that I was so really really looking forward to this, and I even tried to give it a second chance by playing the demo a second time and registering more than 10 hours of play, but sadly, the more i played it the more I disliked it.

Not to mention at $35 a pop on psn, its not worth it since I cant very well let my son play this shit. I may let him play some very questionable games such as DOA5 and Senran Kagura, but It'll be a cold day in hell before I even let my son near SS.

It kinda sounds to me you never really wanted to enjoy the game, at least subconciously. Or maybe you are not into something as Hardcore as SS. Your complaints sound of someone who isn't really trying to understand something, but trying to get it over with as soon as possible so they can say they did it. Reminds me of trying to introduce an JRPG to my Dude Bro roommate who becomes super dismissive to just about everything in it.

That is all...to those enjoying SS. Good for you! I'll just wait for Muramasa and Dragons Crown...and hopefully God Eater 2 crosses the vast blue ocean to the west annnndd....maybe valhala knights 3 and ys. But for know, I'll just get atalier totori or whatever and maybe black rock shooter.

bolded.....carry on.

1. It is, I dislike having to mash buttons just to make the text advance faster. Which is why in all RPGs that have an option for fast text, I chose that option.

2. I manage to get an assortment of spells, and I leveled up that neutral blade thingy to lvl 3, which is the max allowable on the demo. Even at that lvl of upgrade, it does squate to the harpy's wings and head. Its not the planning which is the problem, its the fact that they tried to make the game harder artifically by forcing you to run out of spells during huge boss battles and forcing you to run around looking for or waiting for restore points to respawn or for some small fry monster to pop up. That is not my idea of fun.

Not to mention it doesnt feel like the spells are doing anything. Case in point, I also manged to level up that jack o lanter spell thingy where you turn into a huge flaming boalder, which incidentally is the harpy's weakness. Every time I roll into the damn bird, it feals like its not hitting or doing anything even though I get points for "enemy weakness exploitation" and shit.

3. Oh, I can dodge all right, I even spent half an hour running around and avoiding cereberus waiting for small fry monsters and the resources thingy to respawn just to get more mana. Its lame stupid and lame to run out of offensive abilities at the onset of the battle coz the spells are severly limited and the stupid dog has a shit amount of hp. If my character had a stupid stick that can do 10 damage, I would have already killed that stupid dog in 30 mins. Instead, like I said, I forced to run around with nothing to attack with. LAME!

4. Oh, 10 hours + spent on a demo doesnt sound like "trying to get it over quikly" to me. I really tried to get into SS, but only ended up disliking it more. As for hardcore, SS is not "hardcore". It is a game that is artificially difficult due to the system making you suck. If I was given just a bone arm for the rest of the game but had unlimitted use of it, I'm 100% possitive that I would beat it due to the enemy paterns being so easily recognizable. Am I the only one who sees this? Its like playing an arcade version of street fighter 2 the world warriors and all the punch and kick buttons are broken.

lol how do you run out of spells, it rarely happens to me (maybe its just what the demo offers). also levelling up spells doesnt make them stronger it only allows for more uses (at least in the demo). in the full game they eventually do more. but i will agree text is slow, they should have sped it up as it lasts the time of the Japanese text

Kind of weird article about Idea Factory's plans for Vita. Monster Monpiece was going to be their only title for the console but then Sony announced Soul Sacrifice and they changed their plans.

I mean... it doesn't go into why they changed their plans. Because they thought it'd sell well? Because it demonstrated Sony supporting the system? Idk.

Full opening movie for Mind=0 is out. (Link for those who can't see the video)

This is a lot better than the boring short version they released before!

I do agree with ils on some points. You never really know if your attack hit the monster or if it didn't and how effective it is... feedback from the game is pretty minimal.

That being said i hardly have any problem with running out of spells. The way to go with pretty much every boss are golems. if you manage to get them down and get a golem to beat the shit out of them 3-4 times they are pretty much done.

The game does have it's flaws and if you don't like it don't buy it. That's what the demo is for, to try it out. I for my part quite enjoy it but i do realize not everyone will.

Probably because it looked like Monster Hunter.

Having played it a bit now, I'm pretty surprised by how much it's not like Monster Hunter. In all the right ways.
