Forums - Nintendo - Wii 'U'nder powered?

WE HAVE NOT SEEN THE ACTUAL TRUE HD GRAPHICS FOR THE ACTUAL CONSOLE YET.

Are statements from devs, magazines and the general opinion not enough to tentatively ask a question? Perhaps, perhaps not. What is certain is that you didn't bother reading much of this thread, but just came here to say ''FUCK THIS THREAD''. Thanks for leaving sooner than some of the other negative nancies though.

How about waiting for something official or spec release before making a thread like this?

I myself am waiting because I know nothing about what it is capable of plus the 3rd party montage they showed was confirmed to be PS360 footage.

The E3 conference was all about what new things the controller can offer. Not about hardware.

Just to clarify:

1. I do believe Wii U will be significantly more powerful than PS3 (I haven't heard this anywhere so that's why I made the thread. Because I would be disappointed if it wasn't true)

2. I'm going to be OVERJOYED if it's more than 3-5 times as powerful as PS3. That would leave more than enough room to make Zelda, Mario, Metroid look TASTY!

These are all just early tech demos, so I agree with the OP on the fact we haven't seen enough.
Nintendo don't focus on graphics and have little experience designing in HD so I really doubt they have shown us what the system can do yet.

3rd Parties seem very impressed with it's graphical power with EA praising it live on stage.
I believe the (rumored) extra Ram and Vram will make a huge difference in Texture quality also 3rd parties are going to find it much easier to program for due to the less restricted memory allocation.

I have high hopes - lets just wait and see what the next year will show us leading up to the lunch

(hey this is my 500th post on this account!)

I only found that out afterwards.

Also, I'm asking the general gamer if he would be disappointed if the Wii U was in the power range that is being hinted. Is that such a crazy thing to do? Probably we won't hear anything for several months, so is this thread really that out of place?

Around the Network

as a gamer this is my view :

I see how good a game looks and it's "wow" factor - not compared to other games but on it's own merits. Eg. if it looks good - then it looks good Full stop and not "But is it better then Killzone 3??!" That only counts in System wars and bragging rights - which frankly is a bit childish.

HD Zelda looks good and it'll look MUCH better then Skyward Sword, if it doesn't look quite as good as The Witcher 2 I don't think it would stop me from getting it.

Nintendo fans will love the HD upgrade to all the old Ninty games and will upgrade - and I think they made a few more fans in the Wii Generation, The Wii was my very first Mario and Zelda experience (I was a Atari/Saga Mega drive fan as a kid!) and I enjoyed them even though I'm a hardcore PC gamer.

Still the question remains... will it run Crysis??! I hope so - and on High ;)

All we know about the Wii U's technical specs are that:

-it uses a Power7 CPU
-it uses flash memory

Now, the Power7 CPU can be anywhere from approximately equal to the 360 (on the very low end), to as much as four times more powerful (on the extreme high end).

And flash memory as the main storage means much faster load times, which is a technical benefit as well.

Anything beyond that is 100% pure speculation and shouldn't be given any heed to. There were a million rumors about the WiiU and still are, and most of them have already been proven false. Don't add to the shitpile.

We've also seen tech demo's as well as statements from devs.

I'm not adding to the shitpile. I am of the opinion that the discussion is sensible. If you disagree then tell me on my wall and stop derailing my thread please.

You're giving credence to the rumors about it being underpowered. So far, though, the proof we've seen has said that it most likely ISN'T going to be underpowered. Thus, you're absolutely adding to it.

And I'm talking entirely 100% on-topic. Just because you don't like what I have to say doesn't mean I'm derailing anything.

The GPU will be a custom AMD Radeon HD GPU. The source is a press release. And here's one for the CPU.

Neither of those gives any actual information, though, beyond what I just said - except that AMD is making the GPU.

Do you see people!? Its not so hard to make a measured and opinionated response to this thread is it?

Fully agree with this:

''I see how good a game looks and it's "wow" factor - not compared to other games but on it's own merits''

But it has to be said that it'll take more and more to get me to go ''wow'' as this gen wears on, which is why an upgrade in power would be so sweet.

I am happy someone else also thinks it will be substantially more powerful than the PS3. I was under the impression I was alone.

the wiiu graphics will be just fine , when they launch. remember it took : uncharted drakes fortune too show everyone what the ps3 could do visually, and that game came out 1 year after the system launched.
