Can't be true. Surely not. What happens if my controller breaks? Can't I buy a new one?

maybe you send it to Nintendo and they have it fixed under warranty, just like any other part of the console..

How do you play your console in the mean time? Just Wii remote I guess?

same way you play your console when the DVD drive is being repaired.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

Miyamoto said in an interview that they are looking for programming techniques to make it possible to play with more than one controller simultaneously.

Honestly this is a make it or break it for me, for Smash Brothers is one of the main reasons I buy Nintendo systems.

NINTENDO

nintendo forever . . .

I imagine this will be a console of control options, moreso even then the Wii

Odds are this'll have a Wiimote packaged in there as well

Been telling people this console is doomed to fail

I've seen your reasoning behind that assertion, and would contest it. The tablet itself is no more intimidating than a DS, having no more buttons or functionality than the DS had (well, extra analogues, but still more or less the same as that very high-selling device).

You're not seeing Nintendo "concede" to other forms of entertainment rather than acknowledge consumer difficulties with various forms of entertainment competing for TV space. Now for some, perhaps many, single-player games, you can compromise, lowering one of the barriers of entry for more upstream games (that you hog the TV by playing them so long). At the same time, the device means that Nintendo can go forwards with many of the Wii experiences, with local multiplayer games for all

This just opens up more options. The remaining question is how these options will be utilized, but that's always what ultimately makes or breaks a console anyway

Why? You need 4 screens to play SB? It's been said already it will support Wiimotes, this means also the Classic controller.

Ugh. How many freakin' controllers are you supposed to buy? 4 Classic controllers just to play Smash Bros.? That's a bad joke.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

So when Dad walks into the room to watch his sports game and the kids playing multiplayer New Super Mario Brothers switch to the Tablet..

.. How does that work?

The most bullying kid keeps on using the tablet, the others can wave their WiiMotes at the news, sports, talk shows, dad's favourite porn, etc.

I had been thinking this would possibly be the case for the system. Each screen controller added would require more horsepower on the part of the WiiU system.
