I wouldn't be surprised if they did, given the success of such systems on the PS3 and 360. However, I wouldn't really care if they did or didn't. I've never got into this whole trophy thing and doubt that I ever will if Nintendo join the club.

I'd just like to have activity board ad I'm fine, I never really played to unlock achievements on 360 or Ps3.
I don't really get the appeal of trophies or achievements but I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo created something along those lines ...
I think the challenge for Nintendo would be to create something that was different enough to be distinct but was still interesting to all the people who enjoy achievements and trophies. One thing that I think would be interesting, but I doubt anyone would attempt, would be to create a built in Animal Crossing like game into your system and have every game you play add content to that world; and (eventually) your own personal world would reflect the experience you had with the system. On top of that, you could have people's experience in this game world tied to other areas of the system, for example completing quests could lead to avatar upgrades or gaining gamer coins for purchasing other things.

That would be great. Maybe a Mii based game.

I'm not really interested in achievements as they currently are, but having bonus items like you suggest would add some initiative to get them, plus having it also implemented in the 3DS.
Something like a Tomodachi virtual world of sorts.

That would be brilliant. I remember long ago a joystiq commenter suggested Nintendo do a sticker book like in Brawl, where one specific achievement yielded one specific sticker, which would be a similar idea to yours, though less involved

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

If they make collecting stickers even cooler then what is next? Stamp collecters would become the new cool kid on the block.
if they do, i hope they don't give you achievements for things that happen in game automatically.
it should be an achievement for say killing 100 poes in zelda or something you do on your OWN, not an achievement for killing each boss. I hate those.
but personally don't care about achievements. If smash was on ps3 or 360 it would have achievements instead of unlockables. You would get an achivement for killing 100 of those guys instead of unlocking a new song or something. At least thats what i've noticed in the HD games. They have like no unlockables. Just achivement and DLC
as to the animal crossings reference thign above. sounds kind of like a reward systems built into HOME.
I don't understand the concept of achievements or trophies. Can someone enlighten me? I just think that they are pointless. Are they beneficial to games and your gameplay? And do the trophies/achievements themselves unlock special things in the games, or is it vice-versa?
Reason I'm asking is because my friends (and you forum users) talk about them all the time, and I don't understand what's so good about them other than having them as bragging rights. My ex doesn't even understand what trophies are used for, and she's had a PS3 for 2 years already...
