Forums - Nintendo - Will Nintendo introduce trophies/achievments like system?

Hmm i noticed disturbing lack of any info about any long term "e-penis size increaser" type of score system for project cafe.

Do you think it will be added to it ?

They already missed big chance to give it to 3DS games

I reckon so. If they don't it'll be suicidal

They already have in some of their games, just internal achievements, and a lot of other Wii games have something similar. Just no umbrella sorta thing

And, I believe the 3DS is having an update in September adding achievements

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I hope you're right, because right now that's the only thing I envy to NGP. I really need some type of achievements system and I don't even have a PS3/360 so I'm a Nintendo fan asking for this service. Nintendo should not just copy the system from its competitors, they have the power to reinvent it all...and make it the next big thing! Imagine winning Mario's money for completing achievements and the exchange them on the shop...beautiful.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

Do they need to? A large section of gamers who Nintendo might want to go from a Wii to their Cafe are not interested in extending their non-existant e-penis (kids, older gamers... girls, don't need one).

I'd be more concerned over Nintendo making and producing great games that make you want to play it over and over again through them just being great games.

Hmm, pie.

Its possible they will add something like it. With all this talk of connecting game players online and creating a social network Ninty might add the masturbation that is "achievements".

"you unlocked the I PLAYED A BILLION HOURS BADGE OF NERD HONOR achievement!! Congrats! You are the biggest nerd out there!!"

Nothing against unlockable content and all, but I still don't see the point in these... maybe I'm backwards or something.
Besides, doesn't Club Nintendo sort of count as a global achievement system?
I sure wouldn't mind them expanding on that!

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

Suicidal is going a bit far... If they merely had a system similar to those that are already available then I'd be more disappointed than if they did nothing.

The current systems more often than not merely try and artificially extend playtime through a set of meaningless, time consuming tasks (I'm thinking of things like the pigeon hunt in GTA IV here) when full completion should be something that you want to do naturally because of good game design.

If they could come up with a system that encouraged such natural desire to do everything in a game without mind numbingly dull requirements, then they'd be on to a winner. And it'd be better than what there is out there already.

Well you know there's really no disadvantages to having it.

If you don't care about it no problem you can ignore it but I feel it kinda ads some additional longevity to games or urges you to try diffrent weapons etc. Also human nature is competitive so sometimes it's fun to compare trophies beetween you and your friends or to simply check how far they went in games x or what they are playing.

And as said they already have it in some games - they just need to expand them globally.

I really don't see it happening, but who knows what's trickling through their minds?

26 hours to go...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I'd prefer some points to spend in the Club Nintendo Store. Most of the stuff they have there is digitally reproduceable tat, but I am angered at not being able to hoard my points to have a SNES classic controller already.
