This kinda makes this thread null and void, they just did it to get Nintendo on their toes before someone actually does something with it, I mean they really didn't harm Sony for that matter, like their name they're doing it for the lulz and to get people to fix security gaps, I mean they DID take some 3.5 million coupon codes from Sony but those a coupons to begin with, they didn't copy many accounts just enough to show them they weren't fabricating the story and enough to make Sony panic about their movie site security, now just posting it up online for anyone to see... that's where the actual issue comes in, they're obviously not doing anything with the info, but others might try something, though without any skill or extra info to go with a few names and adresses the most they'll do with it is some crank calls.

Though this tweet goes with the stereotype, that anyone that's a bit more tech inclined, knows their way around computers, and well actually knows what the hell they're talking about when it comes to technology (IE classic geeks) are typically Nintendo fans, mostly because they liked gaming before Sony made it cool for the bros  I guess Nintendo's best protection against hacking is that the ones able to hack like them

so, this is actually pretty good? Wait, I'm confused...

Well I like the fact that Nintendo doesn't store credit card information. I didn't know that till I read the article I also like how other then my MyNintendo account being hacked their isn't much personal info they could steal. However what about my address? I'm pretty sure it and my name is on MyNintendo.

I prefer Lulzsec to Anonymos but both are causing nothing but trouble for people. Even if Lulzsec is doing it all just for the Lulz and not actually trying to harm anyone their actions are still causing damage. Now if they had hacked Nintendo's site stole some evidence of the hack then contacted Nintendo's security team and provided them with the info on how they hacked them. Then I would see it as admirable, then after informing Nintendo of their security flaws coming out and saying they hacked Nintendo. I wouldn't mind so much.

Its just sorta stupid that Lulz is really hacking everybody. Play with fire too long and your going to get burned especially if they hack the FBI. How are they going to get out of that? "We hacked the FBI just for the hell of it" no judge is going to take such a hack lightly.

My suggestion to Lulzsec is to either work with companies to provide them with the information needed to improve their security. Work with the FBI to show their security flaws. Then maybe people will respect the organisation. The only other thing I can think of is for Lulzsec to completely liquidate and stop before they are in some serious legal shit!

Haha, they can target nintendo, there's not a lot to take from whoever buy party game or My fireplace on WiiWare
/sarcasm

You guys need to learn the difference between white hat and black hat hackers. Black Hats are purely out there for destruction and revenge. Lulzsec falls into the black hat domain, although the actions with Nintendo are actually white hat. White hat probes for security holes, then reports them, or posts them publically to force a company to fix them.

Sony shouldn't have had a weak ass system in place for their PSN, it was their own fault that happened. Something that large needs to be absolutely top of the line. I place the blame squarely on Sony, and I think its criminal that they had such a bad system in place. I mean come on, THEY DIDN'T EVEN ENCRYPT THE PASSWORDS!!!!

Are you people only learning now that cyber crime is an issue, there was another one a few years back which cost a company somewhere around a billion dollars, The hacker was caught, and ordered to pay 500 million dollars because the US government didn't think it was possible for a single criminal to cause that much damage to a company. IE 500 million was the maximum the courts could legally fine someone. They have since upped the maximum fine, I think, don't remember too well.

Well not sure how long you've been around on the internet, but this isn't the first group like this, at all, yes they are mostly pointing out security flaws, but they're doing it in a way that it's not making them any friends... see they can't pull a geohot and have the support of thousands of people on the internet, they clearly state they're having lulz at peoples expense.

These groups do eventually mess up, no not all of them are caught I can't think of a time when all people in a anonymous group such as this IS caught, but it only takes one to break the gang and that's what groups like the FBI are hoping for, the funny thing is most likely if they do break into the FBI security, they're going to be hunted down and the FBI has much more talent and much more funding, so yeah... at least one of them will be caught, breaks up the group, the guy caught is probably going to get a job fixing the security at the FBI though or else he goes to jail it's literally how they pick up good talent cause if a small group can get in, then they want that talent to make sure the next small group cannot make it through, and the groups that don't make it through just get put in the slammer for trying ^^

I think it is kind of funny that they did this and did not harm them. shows that Nintendo is the nicer guy out there. Though how could they harm them other than if they had secret info on Café that they could release :P

anyway if you steal once and get away with it you get more confidante in doing it again. if you succeed you will do it again but bigger and so on until you get caught..
