Forums - Website Topics - don't know if I really like the new format.

I'm not sure if I like the new format. Why change it and make it more confusing. I was like how do I click on the forums I want to read throught, then I was okay  now I have to click on the forum index, instead of it just being there to begin with. Why have the forum index and the filter thing. It was much simpler before. Why add all of these sub-categories in the forums. Why get that specific, now if I want to start a thread,I have to think okay does this thread apply to the main forum category are one of these sub categories. What if it does'nt apply to any of them? I also don't get the reason for making the text so big. Do we really have alot of people on vgchartz that can't see that well? I'm sure I'll get used to this new format, but does vgchartz feel the need to keep changing the website and the format. Other websites change things around, but not nearly as much as vgchartz. If it seems to be working, why keep changing things over and over and over and over again.

You're just too old school, man.

I'll have to use it for a while longer before I can give an honest opinion about it.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

i gotta be honest........

some of this stuff is awesome like the badges

but some of this is just bad layout. I mean there's so many damn links everywhere to click on its much harder to just see what hott and happening in the forums. There's just WAY too much going on everywhere it needs to be streamlined big time.

Just like the old overhaul it feels confusing at first but it will feel better in the end.

this feels like more of redesign than an upgrade.. and a bad one at that.. completely useless..

edit:

didn't notice the "FORUMS' tab on the main page.. highlighted in green..

Not unless it gets streamlined it won't feel better.  At the moment there's just too much going on.  The threads and forum are buried and the news articles on the front page just look like they're splattered everywhere.

As a whole there's alot of good additions but some stuff needs to be straightened cause at the moment this is quite easily the most difficult forum to navigate I've ever been to.

Personally I think this is a good change.
VGC has got so much stuff on it now that it's going to be confusing when things move around... the difference between this change and the last change though is that this one gives us the user more options than we had before, rather than limiting and taking features away.

You will get used to it, and with the dashboard and the various pages under the "forums" dropdown (in particular the new hot topics page) finding the threads you are interested in will be much easier.

You just need to get used to it. Hot topics page is the only one you need. Just turn off the sub-forums that don't interest you and that is the only page you need to keep clicking on.

Indeed.

I sometimes think it's that people have bookmarked the hub page and still use that to get into the site even if they are only intending to go to the forums... for the last few months i've had the hub and my own profile as 2 seperate speed-dial bookmarks, but now I think I don't even need the hub... i'll have hot topics and my dashboard on my speed-dial.

Now i don't think I will ever be able to enjoy this site as much as I did before VGC 2.0, but that's partly because I don't really care about much of the other features that have been added since then (reviews, videos or any of this social networking stuff, hell I barely use Facebook) and partly because back then the sales and statistics stuff interested me more, and the concentration of like-minded amateur statisticians in the forums was a lot higher. But with a few of the bugs squashed I think the forum will be working really well.
