Battlefield 3 can't beat Call of duty. Agree or disagree? I actually think Battlefield 3 has a chance of beating out Call of duty. But is it likely? Not really. Despite Call of Duty being the biggest game series by far this generation that doesn't make Battlefield small talk. This is going to be EA's biggest game and even without a release date the preoders are crazy! But not even close to COD's. But mind you the $100 million campaign hasn't even started and this game is doing undoubtly well. They are both on PS3 and 360 and both first person shooters with loveable online. This novemeber might just be the biggest November this gen with games like Uncharted 3, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and Batman. But argubaly the 2 biggest games will be BF 3 and COD MW3 due to huge advertising. So Battlefield 3 can't beat Call of duty. Agree or disagree?

Agree. They could make a 100x better game than MW3 and they will still get crushed in sales. Battlefield just doesn't have the same name recognition across the market that Call of Duty has. I can't even tell you how many people I personally know who own a PS3 or a 360 and the only games they own/play are Modern Warfare or Black Ops.

Agree, I don't think you'll find too many people who disagree except for maybe people who work at EA.

I still fail to see how the PS3/360 version of BF3 is going to be that different from Bad Company 2. Console BF3 is going to have reduced map size (no jets?), and reduced player counts. This is a gimped game, and all the wonderful footage we've seen so far is for PC. Therefore I doubt the graphics will be a major improvement from the Bad Company 2 graphics. Bad Company 2 sold a lot of copies, but by its squad-based nature, it can never be as popular of a game CoD.

MW3 will be more engaging to the average, casual gamer. Only a minority of my friends like Bad Company 2 because it can't be played locally with friends, it has a frustrating learning curve, it has a limited number of game modes, it doesn't have enough game types, and it doesn't have the free-for-all modes that most of friends play.

Also,the 100 million marketing budget is the combined budget for both MW3 and BF3. Activision probably has more money to spend than EA on this because CoD generates a lot more revenue.

This is 100% my experience as well.  A lot my friends only buy 1 game a year.  Most of these guys don't even play the single-player mode of CoD, only the multiplayer.  If these guys do buy another game it is a sports game like Madden, NBA 2k, or FIFA.  Their high school crowd thinks most single-player games such as RPGs are 'gay.' 

I know they stand no chance outselling MW3, so they just have to focus on at least making the better game, which shouldn't be that hard...

Anyway, obviously it can't beat COD but it will come close.

BF3: >10 million consoles + 4 million on PC = +14 million

MW3: 22 million on consoles + 1 million on PC = 23 million

Yeah the chances of them selling more then COD is like the chances as Sony buying MS.

MW3 will sell more obviously but less than black ops because BF steals a few million buyers
The difference will be within 5-7 million

I don't think any game can beat COD in sales. I'll buy both games like always.

Grand Theft Auto says hi. If GTA SA can sell 20 million on 100million consoles. GTA 5 can do much more and by that time it will be 120 million. Also consider the fact tha piracy for PS2 games were crazy that time
