Well it is not all about the time, it is about the resources of the studio, and I don't know the relative sizes of SCE Santa Monica and Insomniac. I know Insomniac has about double the employees of Naughty Dog (well according to wiki)

Well, Insomniac has several divisions now, which would explain why they're so much bigger. Compared to Naughty Dog, those guys push out an extremely polished, extremely good game with loads of content (multiplayer, coop, etc.) in about 1.5-2 years of development time. So Insomniac working on three full games with "only" double the workforce, seems like have a longer development time is the right move. And even if it was only two games, extending the development time to alleviate pressure seems like a good idea, when people would like more reasonable working hours.

Well the gap is even greater with Insomniac's new North Carolina studio, though ND has also expanded now they have to look after multiplayer as well, and because they are the best developer in the world...

I was counting those under divisions, I don't expect them to not count in that total number of employees. Then there is their social network division as well.

Social stuff.... Okay, my real main point is that at the start of the gen, it was roughly 200 at Insomniac, 85 at ND

Now, it is 300+ vs 100+, according to wiki...

Does anyone know the exact time of the reveal? I guess a bit before the MS conference.

Either way, Insomniac said they were increasing their development time because they wanted to spend more time outside the studio. And right now they're working on three games, so that's about 100 people on each. And traditionally, the first year of their development cycles have been small preproductions running up to the release of the full game, so that's about 100 people with two years to build a full game.

Seems pretty reasonable compared to Naughty Dog. Very few developers can be as productive as them I think.

I totally agree. But anyway, I think there are too many good games, taking extra time to make special games is a good idea

@ pezus, I think the trailer is 30 mins before the M$ press conference
