The UK lift is interesting, but that was always the developed video game market where Wii was the most out of sync with its actual value (you guys are ripped off on everything). More generally, you have to remember too, its not just a price cut, but a new bundle. The brief Mario Kart bundle over Christmas was a pretty big push too. Wii ain't dead by any means though - wait til next year. There are still at least three 5m plus titles coming to Wii (Just Dance 3, Dragon Quest X, and Zelda)- that will keep it from deteriorating too quickly for another year.

great Wii numbers, I wish that could also be said about 3DS as well...

Return of the Wii! I happilly eat my words about the lack of impact for a price drop. But they still need more games! Hopefully Nintendo doesn't focus too much on Cafe and 3DS at E3..

I'd postpone that meal till Q1 shipment numbers arrive ;)

Amazon uk still has wii at sale for 99 pounds so it doesn't look like there were much demand increase for it.

Didn't expect that huge Wii rebound. It was epic.

Above: still the best game of the year.

A ps3 price cut should be truly interesting.

i think a 360 price cut would be even more interesting.  they've had quite a few added value sku changes but it has been a really long time since an actual price cut.

I disagree. PS3 costs the most ATM. If the price of the PS3 was cut, it would have the biggest bump.

Without new games, would either be as large as the Wii's? I doubt it. Because it's now 'budget price' for Nintendo and the market. People will pick one up on the fly because of the low price. You can't do that with the other consoles, or the 3DS. And that's why 3DS sales are hurting IMO.

But that's a different topic altogether

No mention of Wii Play 2 in those guarenteed 5M sellers?

Agree. The current gen still has a lot of juice in it, although more than half of it has already been squeezed. And the new gen just started, 3DS started it slow, but if PS3 eventually started profiting and doing well, 3DS should be in an even better position, as it just have to improve sales, while its HW is already profitable.

But wait! My mind must have been wandering elsewhere, what was I thinking? Everything is d0med, as usual!

your post seems to contradict yourself - the ps3 would have a bigger bump because it currently costs the most but neither would have as big of a bump as the wii because it costs the least ...

.. you do realize that the wii is $150 now and the 360 currently starts at $200, therefore a 360 price cut would still bring it down the that same "budget" price.
